1001 questions (and answers) concerning BDCP

I am preparing to graduate this May. Originally I submitted my expected graduation date as December 2011. Accordingly my OCS date was in January 2012. However I have managed to finish earlier and have submitted a new Academic Degree Completion Form. They said they would try to get me into an earlier class but I'm sure how thats going to turn out. If they cannot fit me into a class until Fall/Winter, does anyone know what I would likely be doing? Would they require me to come into the office or anything like that? I'm just trying to find out so I'll know how my summer be spent.

Has anyone who's been through BDCP and OCS recall when they got reimbursed for their travel to Newport? I arrived and filled out my travel claim in early January, and I still haven't gotten my TDY (or whatever it is) money.

I was told at OCS that I would get reimbursed at my ultimate duty station. When I checked in there they were surprised I hadn't gotten it already. We filled out the papers and a week or two later I got the deposit.

I am prior so I am going to school on uncle sams tab right now. With that said, I decided to make the most of it and have gone to three different schools. The last school I went to was a complete waste of my time, so I decided to stop going half way through (I know it was stupid). I have since re-registered at the second school I attended, where I still have a 4.0 GPA. I have always taken a lot of credits per semester (21 this semester) in order to still graduate while my uncle is paying. I take school very seriously and this is the reason I decided to stop attending the last school. I used my free time to study, read, workout and relax.

My question is, What is a good way of explaining my having attended a school and leaving with all F's??

There's no good way, you can't turn a beer fart into Chanel #5! Best to suck it up and work to keep that kickass 4.0 GPA up. Hopefully, they may well see the Fs as an aberration, (a usually insignificant deviation from the norm).:watching2

At some schools you can appeal to have them retroactively changed to W's.

I wish I could but under the GI Bill if you don't recieve a letter grade (A-F) from a class, you have to pay out of pocket. The little money I have I use to pay bills and the wife's grad school bills. Thanks for the advice though m26. I will just work harder to make myself more competitive, run a club, volunteer, and score high ass hell on everything. I just wanted an acceptable way to bring that up. I guess there really is none, except I effed up.

Hey guys, quick question on our promotion from E-3/4 to E-5 upon graduation... I'm trying to get my paperwork turned in for the promotion, but I don't know what it needs to say or state, etc. I have been emailed a blank form from someone on here, but he's in OCS now so he can't help for the time being. He sent me NAVPERS 1070/613 (Rev. 07-06) but totally blank, so I have no clue what it is supposed to say, where to submit it, etc. My major problem is below:

One thing that is currently holding me back is my recruiters office. I've been in a holding pattern due to my achilles tendon injury a year ago (I was originally scheduled to go to OCS 17 July and then bumped up to 26 June, but was removed from both and all future classes for the time being) so it's been a waiting game until Millington decides whether I'm fit for duty or not. While that's been going on, my NRD has told me that until it's cleared up they will not put in the paperwork to process my promotion - their argument is that I could be medically discharged or made to go serve my 2 years enlisted, so they don't believe I should receive the promotion yet because it's possible I won't meet all of my service contract's requirements. My argument is that I fulfilled the requirements for the promotion by graduating, but they still won't do it.

Anyways, if you have a copy of what it's supposed to say (you can blank out your specific info, etc) or know other info that would be helpful or useful to me, please let me know. I'm preparing to head to OCS later this summer or fall so I'd like to get this problem taken care of before then, as my NRD is not the best on holding on to my documents I submit (or the second or third copies) as well as it's entirely likely they could forget to go back and submit the form before I leave once I'm out of their command. The backpay will be nice to have as long as I do get it. Thanks!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but from my understanding you are not "really" being promoted to E-5. When leave for OCS you will receive E-5 pay and any days while at OCS but if you DOR or become disqualified you don't get to keep E-5. So if you DOR you go back to your old rate/rank because you haven't fulfilled the contract obligations which will promote you from E-? to O-1.

This is BDCP, so if you DOR while at OCS you do give up rank and go back to E-3 as a non-designated striker for two years [Sec. 1d in our contracts]. If you are medically discharged or otherwise separated (honorably, administratively...don't know about dishonorable) you would still be an E-5 rank, but it could vary on what you would receive (if any) from that point on. But because we're BDCP it stipulates in our contract [Sec. 2h] that we go to OCPO2 (E-5) after graduation regardless of previous rank, whereas non-prior DA guys are no rank until OCS and only go to E-5 at that time.

As far as prior service, I'm not for sure but have heard that they have to give up their enlisted rank while in BDCP and be E-3/4/5 until OCS, but at that time depending on time in service and rank they can get slightly higher pay than E-5 as well as O-1E (four years or more prior) after commissioning.

I'm certain that others have already received their promotion and pay increases (just about everyone in yesterday's class and the previous class said so) so I'm just trying to find out why my recruiters would withhold it from me. I've met the requirements listed in the service agreement, which is the exact document they recite back to me and hold me accountable to, so I don't see how or why they would prevent me from doing so. I'm hoping someone who may have gone through a similar situation has some gouge on what to do to get it fixed.

That is what I recall from when I put in a BDCP app. Sounds like it might be a call to the regional office is needed if they are just telling you no without you breaching contract.

From about.com:
Enlisted as E-3 during program. Promotions to E-4/5 if: 1.) Refer person who accesses 2.) Make Deans List (3.5 GPA) for two consecutive semesters.

My questions are: What if before entering the program someone has already made the Deans List for two consecutive semesters? Does that mean that you automatically get the promotion when you sign the contract or would you have to make the Deans List for another two consecutive semesters after signing to get the promotion?

These questions are hypothetical but I was wondering if this is the case for some people.

Quick question, I talked to my recruiter yesterday and he mentioned I will have to go back to MEPS before I go to OCS. He said the MEPS physical expires after two years. Will I have to go through the entire MEPS physical again or is it just a short medical form? Never realized I would have to get another medical before OCS. Is what it is I guess but just wondering if I have to go through the entire process again.
