"the mat" ... was that the @ 5000' circle that was the 'old' field ??? If so, it figures ... as it was Prop-Heaven...... we AD Drivers used "the mat".
The Mex Ville is gone. First Trader's and then Mex Pac. Sad
The shameful Hoovers on the approach were flyin' right by our veranda/lanai (whatever your preferred spelling for what is essentially the same thing) ... w/ their supremely 'disappointing' .... "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO .... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO .... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ... " as the guys jockey'd the throttles ...
.....
And then @ 2 hours later ... we repaired to Mex-Pac for the debrief ... :icon_smil
BUT: Coronado was a 'Navy town' in those days ...

And a JO could afford a house in Coronado then (well, a small one anyway).
Let's now bow our heads and have a moment of silence for the Downwinds, Mex-Pac, Boom's, M-Crud, and Bully's LJ.![]()
And for when Glenn Miller played songs that made the Hit Parade.

It's a great view thats fo' sho... The Visual 29 is NOT the Bay approach though. The Bay approach brings you in for 18 T&G then a left downwind for 29 if you desire... It's a local area thing that's not in the approach plate, Base Ops/some squadron should have the correct version.
*Boy the way* Glenn Miller played songs that made the Hit Parade.
Ahh..this should be entertaining. The last time the VT's did this during Cortramid they got yelled at by CNAF staff...just sayin'
