Explanation of "scroll" process and Timeline of events until receipt of COMDOCs

Ah, I had already filled out the updated form prior to the board meeting and since I was 1635, I went ahead and did it for 10 years instead of the 7 on the advice of my recruiter....which was good advice! :)

Ok well after this last drill weekend, it was brought to my attention that all July DCO board selects will be at the earliest commissioned in December or even January, I am currently serving in the reserves, I have been enlisted for about 5 yrs I am a SK2 and was picked in the July supply board. I was speaking to the NOSC XO over the weekend and he mentioned having my commission ceremony at the reserve center during a drill weekend, he said you only get to do this once, so put the humble pie back in the fridge and enjoy the whole process, I know I will....I have come a long way from hanging over the side of a ship slapping haze grey while strapped to a wooden seat....LOL

I seen some message traffic to all the new supply DCO selects about going active duty for DCO and supply school, and in the same message stated earliest of december or january

Has anyone gotten their Final Selection letter from the Sept 1635 DCO selection? This waiting is getting to be a bit ridiculous. I had my medical done, I have my needed clearance and everything else I need, so what is the wait?

If you had your final select letter already, I'd be shocked. Be patient, it takes a long time. Read back a few pages and those of us that have gotten in have said how long it takes. Took me 4 months to commission after the boards. Also, you're coming up on the holidays, so if you don't have it in the next couple weeks, which is highly unlikely, it probably won't come in until the new year. Thanksgiving to Christmas laziness is the fault for that one :)

Get used to waiting... This process is very slow... After MEPS you have to wait on a PQ (Physically Qualified) Letter.

- ~2 - ~3 months from MEPS to receiving PQ (Physically Qualified) Letter

- ~1 month from PQ Letter to receiving Final Select Letter

- ~1 month from Final Select Letter to receiving COMDOCS/Commissioning

I have been reading posts for awhile and decide to post for the first time. I have been informed by my recruiter that my final select letter is in and that commissioning documents should be coming in about two to three weeks but may be slowed down by Thanksgiving. My recruiter has been great on keeping me informed. Hope this helps everyone waiting.

If you makes you feel any better (or worse) I was selected in July and was already PQ'd and still waiting on a Final Select letter. Anyone from this board get their letter yet?

Not sure if this will help anyone out... I am one of the selectee's from the Reserve Supply Corps board that met back in July. Just talked to my recruiter last week for an update. She mentioned that the reserves are trying to commission all the reserve supply officers at around the same timeframe and that they are trying to get it done by the end of the calendar year. She also mentioned that she has not seen any results from the Scrolls process either... Just an FYI. Hope this info helps...???

Just wondering if anyone from the July 09 Supply board has gotten their final select letter or heard anything about scrolls?

Starting to get antsy...

July? Wow it takes that long for it to come back?

I was selected with the September 1635 board and thought maybe it would back before Christmas. Guess not lol.

What is the 'scroll' process anyway, what are they doing exactly? Does anyone ever 'not' get past this phase? I've never heard of it happening and just curious.

Hello everyone,

I would like to thank all those who responded to my post a few weeks ago, Charlie and a few others come to mind, thanks. I do have a few new questions. How does somebody drill before they get their comdocs? Do you drill as an officer? Do comdocs come after you have been scrolled? Isn’t scrolling what congress does to make you a commissioned officer – and then you are sent your comdocs? Aren’t you sworn in after you get your comdocs? Don’t you have to wait to be sworn in until you get your comdocs? Also, isn’t it correct that you can not attend DCO until you get your comdocs, right? Like I said, I only have a few questions, LOL. Thanks for the help…………

Continued from prior post:

I’m trying to understand how people are drilling before receiving their comdocs. Are people raising their hand and taking the oath to serve and then having a commissioning ceremony when all their paperwork and comdocs are in and done? Is comdocs short for commissioning documents? Do people drill as cadets before they are commissioned? If people are drilling as cadets, do they receive officer drilling pay or what is the drill pay for a cadet? When exactly is a DCO person commissioned? Is it after the comdocs? Doesn’t your packet and all your medical have to be approved before you’re commissioned? If so, how are people drilling before their packet and medical are done? I understand being a DCO and becoming an officer before DCO school, but when exactly does this direct commissioning happen? It’s right after the comdocs, right? How can somebody drill if their medical files are lost and they don’t have a PQ, and therefore comdocs (as I understand a prior post?)
