Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

This past summer when I was at OCS I had a prior Marine with Chinese heritage in my fireteam. While I was the fireteam leader he recieved a package with some Chinese candy and different things alike. The Sgt. Instructor had me call up my entire team and eat everything. I never knew what it was I was eating but it definitely was not skittles and m&m's. Also, we had a candidate in the platoon whose family consistantly sent cookies and candy for the entire platoon. It was just about the only good thing I experienced at seniors.

Hey, I sent my husband 3 dozen cookies every Thursday....it wasn't until he got home until he asked me why I only sent him 3 cookies?? Well, little did we know that they would open up my package eat all the cookies (I'm assuming) and hand the package back to my husband with only 3 cookies...lol. I guess I know now where all the cookies were going to... :D

feddoc;333549 for the first time at the age of 45. I met some nice women along the way said:
for me[/U]. She is absolutely faithful and has strong family values and......buys me guns, keeps my humidor set, etc.

Good luck to you...and be patient.

If that ain't true love then I don't know what is... :D

Wow... Scary how similar, although I met my wife when I was 33. The difference is that she allows me to buy cigars (she doesn't buy them, but she does smoke them with me), buys HERSELF guns (so she can go shooting with me), bought golf clubs (because I like to golf), etc... Are you sure she's faithful? Sounds like we married the same woman! ;)

Yup, mine doesn't smoke cigars. Mine does shoot and hunt with me. And she has a nice rack.

Having a car at OCS?

Is it recommended to have a car at OCS? I am curious how we get to OCS if we have our travel arrangements made by the OSO, can we drive ourselves? If you drive is it parked on base? Near the barracks or in a secured area? Thanks...

it is parked behind the junior pt field. I personally would not bring your car because you have a bulls eye on your head while you are there on base. If you get pulled over any kind of ticket then you are subject to being dismissed. I walked or took a taxi to places on base. There are a ton of speed traps right there around OCS. There are pleny of people lookin for reasons to send you home, dont give them anymore ammo.

Bring your vehicle if you can! Going on Libo was the highlight of the week and having a car is a must. I didnt have one, but rode around with a friend to go eat and make trips to Wal-Mart/Target. Stuck on base is the last place you want to be.

I'm driving from San Diego to quantico...i've done this drive once before when i was like fifteen but it was from alexandria, va to san diego....anybody done the san diego to quantico drive? If so, if my report date is oct 14th how soon do i need to leave? Also my dad just gave me an APN-91 calculator wheel...can that be applied for driving or is it strictly aeronautical?

Verify with your recruiter on your ocs start date. I heard from mine that class 196 has been bumped up three weeks to Sept. 23.

your not the only person renegade i've heard that from, and who have also confirmed with their oso, but i've checked twice with my ofc and they have heard nothing of it, and they say since they're so close to district they would've heard about it immediately....so until i see it on the official Marine OCS website i can't take anything to heart...

All it is is a slide rule, so it can be applied to figuring out the tip if you know how.
