Yeah, now that I think about it, 10-12 canteens is about right - just 3 gallons seems so ridiculous when you put it like that.

They are MUCH more accommodating towards filling canteens and making head calls at OCS than at Boot. Recruits pissing themselves is not uncommon at all - I doubt many candidates do.

Charlie 1 had a candidate crap herself during close order drill on the parade deck last summer..... Yeah I wanna talk to that girl on liberty ;)

yea. 10-12 is common on average... the day before a hump id eat all my salt with some food and tank down about 14 or more canteens (3 over night, at least) and it really was never enough...
I'd kinda like to talk to the one that shat herself... In guess I got lucky because all my movements came in the middle of the night...
One of the worst things there was the night leg cramps I got to enjoy after SULE 1 at Jrs :) I thought I had stretched enough, apparently not...
I dont recall not being allowed to piss when it was crucial. The SIs can definitely tell if u gotta go for real or not... But you have to go in pairs... Which is fine... Early on tho, they were harsh on pissing before PT, but once they knew u had the idea of what was kinda goin on, it got more lax, tho it didn't stop them from harassing you or rushing u...

ive rambled enough... hydrate, intake salt, hydrate some more... stretch

i just salted the crap out of all my food for almost every meal. I think i drank slightly about the average 11-12 canteens on most days.

I got the craps like clockwork just as i was about to start pretty much any major graded event. It was awesome

every night at 0200 or so for me :) on the moto run I felt the urge, but it was a false alarm (painful nasty smelling fart)

on one of the night humps, i had to go at a regular time, but we were marchin, you know... so, i squeezed out a nasty fart ever 10 minutes or so... The staff at the rear blamed it on me and chewed me out. "Haynes, that stinky a$$ better not be you or I swear yoohoo" I just replied "AYE STAFF SGT" every time without revealing myself... it was kind of like revenge, lol

Zilch

This...is...Caketown!
Also your never more secure with your masculenity then when you can stand wedged between two other guys pissing into the same urinal.

They say OCS will change a man...this is one of those things that helps in that process.

My platoon commander told us that about 33% of PLC juniors get commissioned.

We had just over 1,000 in PLC JR at Camp Upshur (back in the day) and lost a few (a few to injuries, but more to "Whoa, what did I get myself into?" or those couldn't adapt to physical or mental stress). When PLC Senior convened, only 325 showed up and since Vietnam was winding down and they didn't need all of us, they pumped up the volume to see who really wanted a commission and folks attrited right and left. They said they only needed 220 of us and that's about how many finished. THose who took the money were worried about having to serve as an E-5 if they didn't make it, but didn't hear of anyone getting tagged with that. Of course, when you want to quit and say the words, you're out of sight pronto so nobody really knew the final score.

people said i was a prick when i got back... i dont see how... I mean, everyone was doing things wrong and way too slowly and I corrected them and rushed them some...

The first experience at a head with multple people was definitely a bit awkward... But when u gotta piss that bad and so does several hundred other candidates, who care, right?

Guess the old trough urinals or circle urinals that used to be in schools are passe so communal passing of fluids is a shock? I found sitting on "crappers" without privacy walls a little odd with only a couple rolls of toilet paper that were tossed back and forth. That took a bit of getting used to. Sort of a rite of passage that went away at TBS, thank goodness.

This was interesting too me. I never have to crap during PT, but at OCS it was like a daily occurance. It got to the point where I would squeeze one out as soon as I would wake up just to make sure I wouldnt have to go during PT.

Girlfriend

Not trying to be a pansy, but a woman i THOUGHT was the one for me has decided she can't bear me being away for so long and doesn't want to wait for me. We've been together now for a year next month and i leave in oct for OCC196pilot. Its pretty pathetic but i am a little shook up (memories, the future with her, etc, etc) however i was hoping for maybe a little moral uplift and some access to anyones SD blackbook ..... :icon_rage

Just take it as a blessing. You will find yourself a much different person after OCS. I had a serious gf going into OCS, and ended up coming home and dumping her (was done wasting those college years 'being faithful'). I understand how you might be a little shook up. Most of it is due to things changing - we as humans hate change. You were comfortable with this girl. Do not let this change anything about going to OCS. If she cant hack OCS, what the hell is she going to do when you deploy ... Move on bro, have a few brews this weekend, and go for a run. You need to be ready for what is about to happen. Good luck.

My first thought in reading this post was to give the all too common "screw girls, they're like busses, they steal your money" type response. I stoped and pondered for a moment though. Just think that someday there will be a weekend when your in Pcola, Glamis, Lake Havasu, or some other act stupid place and you wont have to answer to some girl like most of your buddys will. That being said I have a girlfriend who I have been with for a year and a half and I just recieved my commission. She knows shes either with me or not, but either way "someday" im going to pin wings on my chest in the morning before I go to work.

That's pretty sad. Marine OCS is what...10 weeks? Keep it in perspective, you're still young, and alot of people that age hope to meet "the one" in college, but in reality, you've got your whole life ahead of you.

Best of luck with OCS.
