Any help ident would be greatly appreciated. From what I understand the triangle codes tell most of it's story. This one was made in 1981 and is unfired, I think I can fix that part.

Redux, I wondered the same thing about my SKS's. I think the triangle indicates which factory the rifle came from, and the Chinese writing translates as "Carbine, Type 56". Hope this helps!

*edit* - after a little quick research, I can't match your factory code to any of the known patterns. You might try looking at http://www.simonov.net/codechart.htm

Thanks, that's a good site and I have been using it. "Best guess" is it's 0406 but doesn't look like the one pictured. He gave me about 250 rounds with it but now I'm in search of, can't ever have enough you know. :)

;) isn't that the truth. Are you planning to do any mods or leave it stock?

I'll leave it as is, I stole it for 200 bucks and these Chinese jobbers don't do much for me, I'm open to scoping it though. Cheap shooter easy on the shoulder. Love the .30 cal especially if it has a 06 behind it. :)
