How goes the ecmo to wso transition? What are they doing with the 2 extra bodies?
I've overheard "powers that be" talking about how both pilot and EWO are going to have to step it up in the G. I've also heard through the JO rumor mill of a few struggling guys who are not going to be allowed to transition. Seems to me that ass-busting will be the order of the day for those of us that want to stick around. You don't want to be the guy with no chair when the music runs out.

I am glad this thread came up, the prowler and the growler seem like great planes. I will be goin down the NFO route the next couple of years and that has been a question that I have had, what are they gonna do with 2 extra ECMO's? Will I end up behind a desk? Will their be more growlers than there are prowlers to accomodate, are they expecting some NFO's to retire? So many factors and I know nothing about whats to come...?

They try to plan for that eventuality. Bevo might be more privy to exactly what numbers get crunched as he is a BUPERS type. I imagine they try to game it so they look at how many people of rank X they need at point Y and work back from there accounting for people getting out or possibly FNAEBed. It's all voodoo to me at this point; I just go where they tell me to.

It might have been at the last EW symposium, not sure, but I remember someone of much higher paygrade than me saying they wanted to ensure they kept as much of the ECMO brain trust around as they could.

Most of these questions have been covered in other threads. Bottom line: the manpower issue is being handled pretty effectively from my POV in the second squadron to transition. We're only "getting rid" of one ECMO who will be rolled into another Prowler squadron, and that individual should have been FNAEB'd long ago.

Oh, they're getting rid of me too, but they're threatening to send this kid with me on my DH tour. :eek:

Brett

Which means one of two things:

1. You're just that good, or
2. They want to kill two birds with one stone.

In any event, good luck with your "leadership challenge."

No, it's going to be another one of those situations where the AF has to make sure everyone knows the "real story." "It wasn't really part of the exercise someone was heading to re-gen the Shocker was out of area the F-22 had hemorrhoids the Navy cheated WAAAARGGBLBLGLL!"

First off, this is old news - really old news. Second, Blue forces don't regen at RF. Nothing that happens on the Nellis range means anything and the people who painted a "kill" on the jet are idiots.

Man, you're a buzz kill. :D:eek::D

BTW, I sent this to an AF guy and his retort had something about a re-gen "CONTAINER." Why are AF guys afraid to say the term BOX?
