I love how you guys go round an' round about this .... always goin' for the angles .... some things just don't change. :)

Here's the only three rules of the NAVAIRTRACOM:

1. Put in for what you want.

2. Fly what you get.

3. Enjoy it.

Has it ever been any different .... ???? :sleep_125

I'm thinking you'll be getting the same flight pay regardless of what you fly. Fly whatever they'll give you. Beats life as a shoe in any case. :D

Now why would you be pissed off? Do you know anything about that aircraft or community?

He knows he doesn't want to select it. Does he need another reason? Stop being so defensive.

I'm asking a valid question. I'm not defensive........if I were, I probably would have said something like.......what the hell do you know, you're not even in flight school yet. I too was in his shoes, shared the exact same thought. So my question is valid, not defensive in any way shape or form. Nice try though.

Honestly, I think a lot of guys dont want E2C2 due to not knowing what it does, much like E6s.

The problem is, so far in my 2 trips thru the VTs, I have seen 1 COD instructor in VT-28. When the students found out I was going E2C2, I fielded an ass-ton of questions, the best I could.

A lot of guys thought it was way more interesting than before.

What it boils down to is COD's and E-2's are not exciting and certainly not that fun to fly. The boat is the only somewhat enjoyable or challenging part of the flying experience. COD life is only bearable because of the beach time, per diem, beer, chicks, etc. Can't blame these young hard chargers for wanting to at least fly something that's exciting or something you kill the enemy with. I ask every student I fly with what they want to fly and most are honest and I tell em it doesn't bother me. If they say F-18's west coast, I know the feeling.

Looks like you've answered your own question. ;)

Are you still talking in this pilot conversation? The idea was to bring it out as to why........thus the question. Instead, I have to spell it out because apparently I hurt the feelings of our resident SWO and NFO. There's always a method to my madness.

So lazy (and like you) of you to resort to such a hackneyed retort. I'm merely taking you to task for your question to young gdd05. Maybe you're defensive, maybe not, but suggesting that only 1310s can intelligently discuss reasons for wanting one platform over another is weak.

Now, now, this is between aviators, or at least an aviator and an up and coming aviator.
Do you really think that's gonna shut me up? I'm mean come on, you're a Cod pilot. That's like half an aviator, on a good day. But I digress.

Back to the question at hand. Does it really matter whether he knows anything about E-2's or C-2's?
