Supply w/ SEALS?

I am kind of new to AW and this is my first post. I am in the process of applying for bdcp and find this site to be very helpful. I am applying for Supply and I was wondering if Supply officers ever get attached to SEAL teams? I read somewhere that they can get attached to Seabees but never heard anything about Supply working right along with SEALS. Any info on this would be appreciated.

JJH - there probably aren't many areas where there aren't supply officers (I can't think of any offhand). We do get assigned to Special Ops commands, and you might get forward deployed somewhere with a SEAL team ... though you clearly won't be doing any of the actual missions with the SEAL teams.

Those that I know who've done it have gone during their second tour.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

snizo- thanks for the info

Is it possible to get assigned to a SEAL team (as a Supply Officer) right out of Athens? Or is that unlikely?

curious, why are you so wanting to get supply w/ a SEAL team?

Its the benefit of being in the staff corps - you get a little bit of as many communities as you want...

Well I am applying for bdcp and was looking at applying for special ops but heard it is VERY difficult to get into. Supply then became my next choice because it interests me, relates to my major, and I am business-minded. I came to realize how hard it is to get into special ops and I heard of Supply Officers working w/ the Seabees so I figured they work right along SEALS too. I figured I can try out for special ops later and was wondering if it was possible to be assigned with SEALS as a Supply Officer.

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
Cause it'll be way bitchin', man, and he'll be able to tell all the chix he's working with the Teams. :sleep_125

That is exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread.

To the original poster...if you want to be a specwar guy then why don't you go that route?

Seriously, if you want Specwar why not apply to it? The requirements for you to get in through OCS vs. a lateral transfer are probably going to be comparable. 20+ pull ups, 100+ push ups, 100+ sit ups, and <9 min run and swim and you should be very competitive.

not at all

Come clean now. Since the warrior fantasy in your mind began to wither on the vine when you realized you were looking at a desk-bound SupO job, you naturally tried to salvage whatever was left of that part of your now fragile psyche. At least you have the sense to know when to quit. 70% of the mids here in SOCAL who think they're going to be SEALs are completely delusional and can't even come close to passing the physical test. It's rather amusing.

Seabees = Combat Service Support

SEALs = SPECWAR

Seabees are a battalion with about 600 people, with one O-4 as the Supply officer, and one O-1/2 as the ASUPPO.

SEALs fuck people up.

JJH,

Each SEAL Team has one LT SUPPO, as well as a few at the group lvel. Our supply officer was in better shape than most of the Team guys. They had tons of time to work out if they chose to "assimiliate." They(along with all support techs) are alllowed to participate in training evolutions to the extent they are capable and comfortable.
