Do restricted line officers get to gear a pin?
What about for females in dress whites?Restricted Line Officers wear insignia on their sleeve in place of a star (on SDBs at least).
Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!
If you're asking about warfare insignia, no, they generally do not.

But they could, right? I mean, is a matter of choice rather than policy, I hope.
No you haven't. You might want to take a closer look at the pin.Not sure I've seen restricted line officers with a pin, but I have seen medical corps officers (staff corps) getting SWO pins. Supply has its own counterparts to air/surface/sub warfare pins, too.
Really, is that all there is to it? Learn to drive the ship, get a pin? Do you really think that the main job of a SWO is to drive the ship?A SWO's job is to drive a ship, so he gets qualified to do so and gets the SWO pin.
Most of the descriptors are self explanatory, as you can see docs and Supply officers can get a lot of pins and they are staff and restricted line officers respectively.
