Poker in the Navy

I know beards were once OK to sport, but I've never seen any pics of Os or aviators with them. Was that an unwritten rule, or did some Os have beards back in the day?

Brett
One of our AI's had one .... a really, really nice one, too. His name was Sauerbeer -- a.k.a. Sauerbraten, Sourbeard, etc., etc. ... as a result, he got no seat time, however.

Some of the E's had them ... really tight regs on the trimming.

Think Zumwalt ...

Mongol's the kinda guy we liked to join the table. :)

So you want me, the most feared poker player in my card club, to join the table with you huh? I'll find you when I'm in the fleet punk. :)

ps: excuse me for my big ego but all poker players have big ego. Having big ego is an essential tool in this kind of businesss. :D

Your ego's writing checks... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know...

Can't get a good O2 mask seal with a beard (so the experts say) although there was a Brit Sea Harrier CO with one in the Falklands campaign. never saw a US Navy aviator with one.

CDR 'Sharkey' Ward, CO of 801 Squadron in the Falklands War, got three kills during the war. They asked for and got permission to wear beards during the war because were rarely flying above 10k.
