Poker in the Navy

What is the poker scene in the navy community like, especially in the aviation community? Is there any poker club in the navy?
 
I played a little poker on det in Iwakuni and Incirlik. I think spades is more popular Navywide though.
 
From what I have seen, Spades in played in, well, spades on the Mess Decks. Never saw it played in the wardroom, but I have seen but a small sample of the Navy..

Poker (especially Texas hold 'em) was very popular on my 2 cruises

Spades? Is that a poker game? I have never heard of it.

Anyway, when i say poker i mean texas hold'em (especially no limit texas hold'em). I hope to play a lot of poker in the navy.

Some how I think playing poker is going to be the least of your worries. :rolleyes:
 
I thought you couldn't gamble in the Navy, Article 121 anyone? :D
 
We always played a good mix of poker and spades while on det. Of course, no (official) gambling with the troops, mostly played for "credits". It just seems like those credits somehow had a direct correlation to my perdiem check!

Why, no .... there's no poker in the Navy .... :) .... especially in Aviation .... there were sideburns, however.

On most any deployment, aboard Bird Farms, there was a non-stop Tonk game in progress in the CPO mess, interrupted only by meals and the evening movie.

Yup, they are .... every swinging "member" ..... Mongol needs to improve his aircraft recognition.

I know beards were once OK to sport, but I've never seen any pics of Os or aviators with them. Was that an unwritten rule, or did some Os have beards back in the day?
