Ask an OR anything

I'm unsure of what you're insinuating here.

I misread your post. I thought you already rolled in and have concerns about an earlier class.

Going back to your actual question: it could or could not happen. Folks have no obligation to back out of an OCS date or they get injured / in trouble which requires them to roll back to a later date while it gets resolved.

If there’s an earlier spot for you, your recruiter will let you know soonest.

To add to this I only had a few that had a chance to move up, it is worth asking and preparing for, just don't be surprised if you keep the original date.

Are tattoos something the board sees and might turn away or are tattoos not an issue at all. Im completely covered (all within navy regs) and wanted to know if tattoos affect an applicants chances. I already have an MJ waiver and was wondering if the “tattoo waiver” just adds to them choosing someone else.

Thanks!

What did your recruiter say? Or do you plan and post / ask 50 times here similar to your MJ waiver piece.

On that end, if you insist, you can do a search on airwarrriors to find this answer. It’s been asked a few times already.

Got the call that I didn’t get picked up for EOD. It was tough to hear after putting so much into the package, and it’s had me thinking about my future as a potential Naval Aviator.

For some background, I’m 27 with about eight years of Navy service four active duty and four in the reserves. I recently graduated with a B.A. in Economics, a Finance minor, and a 3.5 GPA.

My previous ASTB scores were 38 OAR and 3/4/5, and I have one attempt remaining. I’ve been studying consistently for the past couple of months, particularly math and PBM. I’ve made progress, but I still have weaknesses to address, and I want to be prepared before using that final attempt.

I’m committed to pursuing aviation, but I’d be lying if I said the EOD rejection hasn’t gotten into my head a little.

Has anyone here dealt with a similar setback or significantly improved their ASTB scores on their final attempt? I’d appreciate honest advice about how you approached it and what helped you improve.

I scored a 35 , 38, and finally a 59 on my final attempt for my SWO package. I took two weeks off work and spent 30 total days studying. It was rough but the work showed. Keep your head up and study hard. It definitely doable.

Sorry to hear about EOD.
As you know, they are a small community and mostly take their officers internally.

Your GPA is fine so as long as you score well enough on the ASTB, aviation will want you.
Consider SNFO in addition to SNA as it increases your chances of being picked up in aviation generally.

Flight side has more numerous and cooler duty stations than EDO imo.

Study up and good luck.

Unless you’re prior EOD don’t waste your time

I’ve crossed 2 non prior EODs. Neither had military exp, straight off the street.
So it can happen. Just rare.
well for me I honestly thought I had it. when they called me, it came down that my run was 5 seconds above the average and quotas were slim. it is what it is, but whoever they picked up I wish them nothing but success
