Full scale industrial war on a scale perhaps not seen since WW2: Ukraine launches 1,000 drones at Moscow resulting in major damage to another refinery.

With cheap (numerous) but accurate and long range drones, every nation is going to have to re-evaluate all protection measures around bases and critical infrastructure. Long term, wonder if this will be a factor in nations energy choices as refineries and reactors are quite vulnerable?

Moscow’s mayor described the wave of drones as the “largest ever” drone attack on the Russian capital and said there had been damage to the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building.

There’s always a vulnerability, no matter how the power is made / delivered. Look at what recently happened in Gary, IN. It took 2 weeks to restore due to wx (no comment on the efficiency of their response). Same happens after a hurricane. Turkey Point nuclear plant was ground zero for Andrew; however, it was all the damage caused by individual substations, etc that limited delivery.

Even if we had efficient solar and non-nuclear/oil, there’s still a way to damage the system.

And this event is targeted, considering the ‘election’ in Russia.

I think the key term that needs to be added here is adjacent (or near adjacent) nations. There aren’t many nations that can fight unmanned across a continent, much less an ocean.

FFS, every salient point you make is undermined by your internet-bully bullshit. I don’t comment here often, but I enjoy the dialogue, articles, and insight. I literally just clicked over to this thread from another where you did the same thing to somebody else. Some unnecessary cutting remark. We get it, you’re smart. And frankly, most of the time I agree with/learn from your positions. But focus on the substance of a given post and stop belittling the individual. As it stands, you’re more detrimental to this place than a little hyperbole attached to an article.
