Europe under extreme duress

Palantir is partnering with infantry types from 7th ID doing stuff at scale with Group 2 UAS. Right in your back yard.

It seems to be a signal that there are FG leaders out there willing to be persistent and throwing things against the wall and seeing what sticks, given the context of what operations in Ukraine are teaching us.

Yeah. But it's still industry led. Those lessons learned will die with the NCOs who go to those exercises and then get out.

I’ll give the Guard some credit, as some states are being more forward leaning with UAS employment. I’m in Azerbaijan right now, and their State Partner, Oklahoma, stood up a UAS Center of Excellence on their own. They host two annual UAS exercises, one to employ UAS with conventional forces, and one to do UAS integration with disaster response.

I’m bringing some Azerbaijanis out there for an exercise in a few weeks. The UAS idea exchange should be pretty interesting given the Azerbaijani success with combat UAS/loitering munitions employment and close integration with Ukraine.

The Choctaw Nation was awarded a FAA UAS test site. They are doing some cool things with their airspace and built a new training and testing center.

Not a big fan from my somewhat limited experience, they like to keep their products proprietary (right term?) and as a result you are stuck with them even if you want to try something/someone new. We are undergoing a big IT transition now at work but the difference is that the 'product' we use is not proprietary to one company so we can change contractors if we want to. My buddy (former VS NFO) who has dealt with them first-hand was not impressed, found them to be a bit haughty and 'true believers' who thought their way was the right way, period.

'System of systems' can be an overused term but making sure that what the military/government buys plays well with everything else is a critical necessity. EDIT: Also interoperability and integration.

Well, if things continue to go downhill in Europe maybe their workers can switch to the merchant marine…there is money to be made for some trips.
