01JUN26 SNA/SNFO board

I hope it isn’t the case that I shot myself in the foot following my recruiter’s advice.

I’m already significantly passed the date I thought I’d be hearing back. Based on my wife and I’s goals, I don’t think waiting for another board and declining NFO is a reasonable option for us.
The idea of ISEL is for people that meet requirements to ship ASAP for the designator they apply for. You applied and they have a spot "right away" for NFO so that is what you have. There is no waiting for another board or review this is what you have unless you decline the position. If you do that you can try to apply again but you never know how they will view your decline.

It is unfortunate your recruiters poor advice has put you in this position, a recruiter should be thinking about the best for their applicants, not themselves.

That’s pretty disheartening news, but I appreciate the perspective.

Does it matter that my recruiter says that on PRIDE it still shows my SNA application is “In Session”, or is a rejection for SNA inevitable since being offered NFO? Can I put a hold on NFO or something to indicate I’m holding out for SNA? He seems to think there’s still a possibility that I hear positive news from the SNA community.

I appreciate the advice

Straight from the program authorization under the Immediate Select section.

(5) Pilot or NFO listed as first choice. If applicant has pilot listed first followed by NFO as second choice designator and only meets NFO criteria as stated above, applicant will be offered an immediate selection for NFO. If applicant declines, package will be reviewed at the next OCS PROREC board.

That’s where my recruiter and I are a little lost, because there aren’t any indications that I don’t meet ISEL criteria for pilot.

So when my recruiter put NFO in my package the first board i applied too (which i didn't ask him to do) I got NFO selected just like you did, and they were able to sort out a sort of "deal" where they held off my NFO acceptance (without declining it, and even postponing my OCS date for NFO) to see if i qualified for SNA. So it's possible, just not sure how much they would be willing to do that, since in my case, they messed up on their end. In your case, it wasn't a mistake, but they definitely can do some real behind the scenes stuff as i saw in my case with my recruiter and his boss.
