1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Yes I understand
The model is not by any means the gospel, I was just trying to highlight the data distribution
I understand what you were trying to do, but you are including data that makes it inaccurate. Then you have the other variables such as those with waivers who have high scores who don't get in due to limits on those accepted with waivers, or the board just won't buy off on the waiver. Those other variables will have a smaller effect on the graph.

One question about the UAV. Ive noticed that the ASTB prep apps only have north south east and west buildings/parking lots. The TBAS study app that I use for the other PBM sections has lots in positions like SW/NE/etc. does the ASTB have those too? Or is that just the TBAS one? None of the ASTB uav material I’ve found has those. (I ask because those threw me for a loop when I tried the TBAS one). Obviously the headings you are facing can vary by 30 degrees, but the way i remember it is that all the targets are oriented north south east and west relative to the center.

The ASTB has all directions, not just cardinal. It also includes 30 and 60-degree offsets. You can change the settings in the ASTB Prep App to the Cardinal, Semi-cardinal, and 30 & 60-degree offsets. It's the same concept for the offsets and semi-cardinal directions. After a few attempts, you should get it down pretty quickly.

Nah what im saying is that all the ASTB prep materials say something like, “target the north building.” The targets are always north south east or west. When I tried a different one meant for the TBAS it was saying things like “target the southwest parking lot,” which I hadn’t seen before. Im aware of the potential headings you may be facing, im just asking about the orientation of the targets around the center. Even if it does include those it will only slow me down a tiny bit, UAV has become pretty automatic for me at this point. Im just not used to it when it says to target a northeast building for example.

Ohhh, that makes more sense. I don't actually remember if it would say "target southwest" specifically. I do think it only has you target the cardinal directions, but maybe practice it on the TBAS app too just in case. That was the only one I used, and I felt pretty comfortable on the test.

Thank you. I was mostly asking as a sanity check. Threw me for a loop the first time I saw it and just had to make sure I wasn’t remembering wrong haha. Im almost positive the targets are all cardinal.
