15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

The selection boards seem very high recently. At least these are not Air Force selection boards. What made you guys wanna do navy instead of Air Force? Is it because of the selection rate?
That and you can never get ahold or talk to AF officer recruiters I called 3 different states no recruiter gave a shit, navy I called him up scheduled an appointment. AF is a good idea if you go to the academy or ROTC but the hard way good luck.

Literally same shit for me. Was interested in military aviation, went to AF recruiting office, no one home. Went to the navy guys and they were ready to sell me on the gig. BDCP also helped :)

I weighed my chances of getting an OTS pilot spot with zero flight experience and decided my chances were better with the navy. Unlike the Navy, the AF could give a hell about their OTS applicants for pilot. They pick like 99% from the Academy and ROTC. Was too late for me to join ROTC anyways.

Naval aviators are better pilots regardless (not biased).

Same here. You basically had to go to the academy

Do naval academy grads have their own clique in the fleet? Or is that not so common. I've heard it's different in each service
Kinda, but that also extends to OCS and ROTC. It’s just easier to relate to and meet up with people from the same commissioning source since you’re all in the same training together for so long.

Either way, we all end up in the same places so it’s not like it matters

Interested me more. Ive been a sailor my whole life, offshore races, college sailing, etc.. spent so much of my life in and around water. Navy just felt right for me, I’m one of those weird people that likes being out at sea away from land. It doesn’t bother me.

when you get to OCS, you’re gonna be waking up at 430 for PT and standing overnight watches, so have fun with that lol
Only 3 months and then straight to pensacola tho instead of the 4 years at AFROTC, id take that anyyy day. People who commission for rated usually wait longer too in AF
