1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Hi Friends!
Just took the OAR-ASTB for the first time. Got a 52 OAR 5 AQR 5 PFAR and 6 FOFAR. I used the Alex Hastings ASTB prep to prepare, and had the app pretty much fully memorized. I am looking into getting the X52 for the PBM, but I am confused on how you set it up with the game. Any advice on studying is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hiii!! Question how was your study habit ? How long did you prep ? I took the oar 1 time and knowing I have 2 tries left frightens me 😭😭

Just took my ASTB for first time. What do these scores look like. Is it worth submitting
43 on OAR,

4 on AQR

6 on PFAR

5 on FOFAR

Welcome to the forum. The new guy/gal posts are a bit discouraged and there's a ton of information at your disposal. Please take the 1-2 minutes to browse the forums/threads, particularly the aviation OCS board threads. Good luck.

Take a look at the scores from the recent board and see were you would fit: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...8z9uxRA8i0/edit?gid=1807841836#gid=1807841836

I would also continue studying in case you need to retake the exam.
Two questions!

1. Why were applicants with scores above 7/7/7 and without waivers or age restrictions not I-SEL?
2. I've been having a difficult time figuring out what to study. I scored a 64/7/6/5 on my first attempt and have a 3.54 GPA, B.S. Computer Science. I need to improve my AQR, PFAR, FOFAR scores but I am finding conflicting information on how those are determined. Should I prioritize practicing the joystick and UAV portions?

Edit: I added three examples that appear to meet I-SEL criteria but were not only not I-SEL, but who's packages were also rejected. How are some candidates having as low as a 2.9 GPA and 5/5/5 getting selected but not these three? I would have assumed maybe these three had medically related issues... but they listed that they required no medical waivers. Wild stuff.

Some people who qualify for I-SEL scores are submitting BDCP applications and won’t be going to OCS until they graduate.

There’s plenty of info about what is thought to affect each subsection, although nothing is officially public. I believe @DBM might have some info on that, but I would check other threads.

For the examples you showed, there’s plenty of reasons they might’ve put denied. I know there was a thing with some recruiters not getting applications sent in time, so they might’ve just moved onto the next board. Or their packet had something else wrong, who knows. I wouldn’t stress it if I were you.

I-SEL allows for medical waivers, just no non-medical waivers.

I am making a logical assumption that because I scored relatively high on the OAR but fairly even on the AQR, PFAR, and FOFAR, that it likely isn't OAR-specific subjects I need to study (e.g., Math, Reading, Mechanical), but that something that is NOT used in calculating OAR is bringing down my scores heavily... I think it would make sense that I performed really poorly on the UAV and Joystick tests.

PFAR and FOFAR are basically a combination of the PBM and ANIT. I think focusing on those the most would help maximize your scores. Best of luck!

Yeah, basically what @fighter-cat22 said, to improve your PFAR scores, focus mostly on the PBM and ANIT. To improve your FOFAR scores, focus on the PBM, ANIT, & Math. To improve your AQR, focus mostly on Math. And of course, your OAR score is a combination of Math, reading, and mechanics

Just got my x52's in the mail. Running on a windows computer, and I have them plugged in and they are on but not connected to the computer. Anyone know how I can get them to work?
For everyone’s information, this sounds like a driver issue.

Don’t forget to update your driver’s when using a new piece of hardware for the first time!
