Assuming you have some sort of STEM degree and a great GPA, I would strongly encourage IWC.
Yeah I’m waiting for the board results.
I do have a foreign undergrad degree in engineering (GPA converted by approved NACES services), 60+ STEM credits from a state university in the US, a masters degree in Computer Science from a top state school. But my Navy GPA is a meh — 3.23. My OR says my OAR score of 64 might be a bit helpful to overcome the lowish GPA.
If I’m lucky to get a pro rec Y, my next hurdle would be my background (Immigrated 8 years ago, newly naturalized citizen. Parents/spouse all green card holders, foreign in laws — all from a strong US ally country) for TS/SCI.
My OR simply told me as long as I’m not a dual citizen then I should be good. However, once I later dug into information I could gather from the internet, a lot of people with a similar background seemed to have trouble in the PSSQ.
I read through the recruiting manuals for enlisted/officers available from the public eToolBox and it seems like only the enlisted folks had very clear and explicit directions concerning the PSSQ. The officer version was relatively vague in terms of clearances.
If I don’t get picked, I’m suspecting I could get a DNR.
Also as I’m soon hitting 36, I’m getting concerned that my choices are limited and I might age out from all options.
I was contacted by a DSCA contractor around 2 months ago for my T3 interview. I did my best to reveal everything I found pertinent, but IDK how much it would be factored into the suitability screening.
