15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Hey guys! I’m hopefully putting my package in for this upcoming board. I’m applying for SNA/ NFO. I just talked to my recruiter though and he said to give me a heads up everything is super backed up which I’d heard before. But he said it could be up to a year before I hear back. I assumed that meant if I apply and get selected it could be a year before going to OCS. But now that I’ve thought about it more I’m unsure if he means hear back about getting selected or not. It shouldn’t take a year to hear about getting selected or not right? Sorry I would just ask him to confirm but he is a very slow responder haha. Thanks!!
If you are just getting started with everything (haven't gone to MEPS, haven't done any paper work, haven't taken the ASTB, haven't found out about any potential waivers, etc.) then the whole process might take a year depending, but the board spreadsheets seem to indicate that the average time to hear back about results after a board convenes is 2 weeks; my recruiter also gave me such an estimate as to when I'd hear back for this September 15 board--towards the end of September. I'd try to go for I-Select too if you haven't considered that option yet! It's by far the fastest and easiest route if you qualify.

I have all my stuff ready to submit just waiting on confirmation from my recruiter. Just barely missed the scores for I- Select but hoping for the best. I’d just thought I don’t even know if I’ll get picked up or not so didn’t know why my recruiter would already bring up shipping out. But maybe just so it’s not a surprise later. Thank u guys for all your responses!

What are your scores? I just barely missed the cutoff too on my AQR. I heard motivational statements/LOR’s are used for tiebreakers between SNA applicants with similar scores though so i would definitely put emphasis on getting that right, now that weve taken the ASTB.

5/8/7 so farther off on SNA I-select but would’ve gladly gone NFO if I’d gotten the I select scores for that. My recruiter hasn’t mentioned anything about motivational statements/ LORs I thought those weren’t really used for aviation jobs?

Dope, when i took my exam, i scored a 6/9/7 and my recruiter told me that a high PFAR is really all they look for, but without other competitive scores like our AQR, motivational statements/LOR’s might get special attention if slots are a toss up between applicants

Hey Guys!

I am gonna just say this. It is my first time applying so take this how you want it. However, I was told by the Officer Processor and Recruiter to submit no more than three LOR's. They will read them. Will they read six? Seven? Maybe. With respect, I don't think they would. That is just way too much.

don’t think it’d be worth your time to do all that, stick to 2 maybe 3 high ranking LOR’s if you can

Yeah, I was just commenting on you and Emmah's convo. Because I have seen a lot of people on this thread saying LOR's don't mean anything to the board. I only put up three. Some people have six or seven.

Most likely the only that will read you motivational statement and LOR's would be you, maybe your recruiter, otherwise no one will care. The off chance will be if you have a waiver that they are iffy on and trying to get some more info on you, but besides that they are looking for what will give them an indicator you will be able to make it through pipeline and that is the ASTB.

This is a relief. I've got a good GPA and scored well on the ASTB, but was wondering if the LORs and motivational statement are actually worth spending time on unless I had a borderline score.

There will be a list that comes out about a week prior to the board. This “at board” list has the names of applicants that are being reviewed at that board.

I submitted all my stuff a few weeks prior to the May board deadline, but Processing sent them back to my recruiter to make some edits. So even though my stuff was submitted, I didn’t end up being at board.
Is this stuff usually sorted out before a board deadline? Seems like it sucks to have it all done on your end but then have to end up waiting for a few months over silly paperwork errors.

I have a master's degree that is looking to be conferred about a week after the August 15 deadline. Does anyone know if we're able to send updated transcripts to update our education in our packets before the board convenes? Tried to ask my recruiter; however, he does not respond. My packet was already submitted in July.

No, but if you’re worried if a masters degree will trump a high ASTB score I’ve got some sad news for you…

It only took a few weeks to get the return from Processing. My recruiter submitted my packet around the middle of March, but got the response from Processing to make edits like 3 weeks later. It was past the deadline of April 5th by then though.
