I am applying for 1825 and have my interview in San Diego coming up. I live a few hours away but could easily spend the night. My recruiter says that it doesn’t make a difference in person vs. remote and is encouraging me to stay remote for the interview.

I feel pretty strongly that nothing beats an in-person first impression, even if only 1 or 2 interviewers will be there. What do folks think, post-COVID is remote the new normal or should I make the trip?

I think it’d be kinda fun to go in person!

There might be processes in place for non military applicants to interview remotely, since they don’t have base access.

Keeping this thread alive!

I had the pre-screen interview with the investigator last week and the OIC interview yesterday. This interview was way quicker, ~30 mins, than the panel interview, but feel pretty good. The gentlemen did express how many applicants they have for this board compared to in March. Now I just get to sit with my thoughts for two months...yippie!

Out of curiosity, how many more applicants are there? (Would this technically be the FY26 board?)

I have my Panel interview tomorrow morning for 1835 and 1825, any last minutes advice for those who have completed theirs?
I just finished my panel this morning and have my OIC this Friday. Be humble, besides standard interview questions (e.g. greatest achievement, how do you handle criticism, what is your leadership style, etc), have examples ready of why the Navy, how you exemplify the Navy core values, what your plans are, how you'll balance work/life/Navy. I am 1885 and 1825.

Thank you for this information.

I already had my OIC interview a few weeks ago before this Panel, is that normal?

General recommendation for folks, reach out to active duty or reservist officers that work in the designator you are applying for. This will not only help you better understand what you are getting yourself into, but it did come up in my OIC interview:

"Have you reached out to any MCWOs yet?"

I recommend just doing this on LinkedIn or websites like this :D
