I don't know if Blue Angels shows cause hearing damage to people. I'd imagine you'd have to be an up close spectator if that is the case. Pollution-wise, what he says is true, but the amount of carbon those planes put out is probably a drop in the bucket in the overall scheme of things, when you consider all the airliners flying. As for electric fighter planes...!?

1000s of hours on a flight deck with nothing more than the below I my ears and my hearing hasn't changed at all from my baseline in 2006. Pretty sure one afternoon at 10x the distance of exposure isn't going to hurt.

Lived in El Centro for 3 years, lived through it daily with planes but if I can live through the blues practice 3 times a day 6 days a week. Anyone could, specially with a newborn. My wife was not happy about that part. We live in Alabama now being station at NASP.

I worked SeaFair in '14. I'm pretty sure this asshole writes the same op-ed every year.

You're correct though, he was probably one of the few flight docs that nobody liked. In my experience, they were well liked and integrated well, but there were a few exceptions.
