I am without a doubt of a higher caliber. I went to BYU for college and have good values.

What the F does this even mean dude? I don't know anyone with a criminal record who does this for a living (either convicted or just charged). And I also know zero people doing this who went to BYU (though I'm sure there have been some over the years). Suffice to say that your explanation means absolutely nothing to any of us.

Hello everyone I am wanting to become an officer in the navy. I am taking my OAR this Wednesday and building my packet. However on my record I have 2 misdemeanors for possession and 1 misdemeanors for assault of a family member. All charges were dismissed. To clarify I have never been convicted. How much will this affect my chances of getting into ocs?

I have a degree in professional studies 2.6 gpa
3 minors in
Business management
Computer programming
Entrepreneurship

91 ASVAB score
A couple of generations ago, I did a tour in the Bureau of Naval Personnel and screened OCS applicants. In my opinion, your best bet is to enlist, establish a track record of excellent performance as enlisted, try to get some more education to bring that GPA up and then apply. Alternatively, the Navy also commissions a limited number of outstanding enlisted performers who have 8 years or more of enlisted experience. That may sound like an eternity to you but is a worthy goal long-term.

I never said I was the perfect candidate. However I have 3 letters all from marines that have stated they would follow my orders on the battle field that alone is enough to show my character. I make mistakes like anyone else but it’s the military at the end of the day without being in the service these marines would follow me into battle. That’s much more than most candidates I am sure.

You’re not really making a case here. I’m sure felons can find veterans, etc. to write similar letters.

Your justification thus far is “I went to BYU and know three marines who said they would follow my orders”.

These aren’t veterans they are active duty members. Respect is earned and from the information I have most officers in the service aren’t respected in the soldiers hearts. I will overcome the odds even though no one here believes in me. I will become a beacon of hope for everyone who thinks they aren’t good enough. Unless you have service members that would gladly die by your side in battle then respectfully you don’t have the right to comment on my thread.

It’s not a joke, my brothers would die by my side content even if I made the wrong call in battle. I know for a fact that matters more than my gpa or record. I don’t care if you have a recommendation from an admiral if the people who actually fight the battles don’t want to follow you. These marines who would die by my side matter much more to me than anything else.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but your drinking buddies telling you they love you and would die for you in battle do NOT, in fact, matter more than your gpa and criminal record.

You seem mad that people are giving you the advice you asked for. It might not be what you want to hear but with a bad GPA, an extensive criminal record, and a shit attitude...you might want to reconsider some things.

These aren’t my drinking buddies, I don’t drink alcohol. I grew up with each of them. I appreciate the input truly. However if you think I am mad or have a bad attitude then you’re part of the problem. I am speaking out of hope and conviction in my beliefs. Regardless of what you say I am still going to complete the process if I am told no then I will enlist. I came for input that’s all, as I said before these service members that would die by my side matter much more to me than anything you say. I know in my heart their belief in me and my faith in there words is not misplaced.

your wording is sickening, I don’t expect anyone to die for me. I wouldn’t allow it. I would die side by side with my brothers. From your wording alone I know you are not a true leader. That’s the difference between you and I.

you came for input, got said input, did not like the input you got and started throwing a total shit fit. You are clearly not mentally fit for military service and on top of that have a paper trail documenting a history of drug use and assaulting family members. Good luck to you. I'm sure you'll find a purpose in this world.

I am now and will become a greater soldier than you if you even are one.
