OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

The program authorization made it sound like it was a guarantee selection but as we know, nothing is guaranteed. I guess my next question would be, if I only put SNA on the application, would they still select me and just give me SNFO or would they just roll me to the next one? I know there was a little confusion with the schedule if this was the last board for FY24 or the first for FY25. If it’s the latter, that would be beneficial to us hoping for SNA slots correct?
If you meet the ISPP PA and have no waivers you will be selected the only way that doesn't happen is 1) if there are no spots to give and if that happens you will know as the board will have been cancelled or 2) you don't meet the ISPP PA and are sent to the regular board and that has happened.

If you put SNA you will get SNA as ISPP.
It’s cleared up this board is the first for FY25, if you look on the document with all of the boards listed it says Fy25 for this board and recruiters have verified this. This board is picking SNFO for fy24 and SNA for fy25. This would be a good sign since that means sna slots aren’t completely filled
It would be difficult for a person on this board to be able to fill FY 24 spots, possible but not probable. The April board normally is for selecting only FY 25 due to time restraints, it puts a lot of pressure on those at NRC to get anyone shipped for FY 24.

Copy. That’s great news and definitely calms my nerves a little in regards to this board. When it comes to these boards, if we’re still in FY24 and they’re selecting for FY25, do they try to ship people out to OCS closer to the new fiscal year? I would assume they’d want everyone to go through OCS and graduate as soon as they can so they’re ready to start Indoc and A-Pool at Pensacola and if they have to wait there then so be it.

This would be a good sign since that means sna slots aren’t already completely filled which I assume would be the case if this was a fy24 sna board.
Brother you gotta just stop with the speculation and just wait it out.

Yea I assumed that is the way as well, just last time I contacted my recruiter when this confusion was going on that is what she told me, that they were going to be assigning fy24 snfo in this board as well. But she specifically clarified that it was fy25 for any sna applicants.

Im not trying to speculate at all, I’m just relaying exactly word for word what my recruiter relayed to me when I asked this exact question to her. I do agree we all just have to wait and see but I’m merely answering based off of what I was told.

Sounds good. The email from Paul from a few weeks ago said it had been forwarded for consideration so I’m good there.

We’re pretty close to the board convening and I haven’t seen anything on cancellation (granted I haven’t seen my email since last Thursday so here’s hoping I don’t have any bad news on Monday.) How close to the board convening would they let people know if it’s cancelled?

Paul also said allow 2-12 weeks for results to be posted. In your experience, is it closer to the 2 or 12 week mark?

I appreciate you relaying the message as best you can. It’s definitely helpful even if nobody knows 100% what the right answer might be. Anything can happen but hey that’s what makes life interesting.

Since you are AD it is all up to your command as far as when. They try to space people out to minimize any dead time in any designator pipeline.

There are people selected end of last year that were put in FY 25 as it just depends when the date available is, the board itself does not specifically dictate what FY people will be in.

That is because he is the first step of many at NRC, he just reviews what comes in and sends it up. Those further up will make sure you meet the requirements, if so then once the final approval gives a thumbs up you are good.

The time just depends on several factors, if the board starts early or late (the board is the shortest time taking only like a day), how much work is needed on the back end after the board (this is the biggest time suck), what other things are higher priority, etc....... If people estimate 4 weeks they are usually good.

Got it. I haven't heard anything since Paul said it was being forwarded, so should I take this as no news is good news and as long as I met the requirements and didn't have any medical issues or waivers I'll likely be at board?

yes and depending on what they have going on you may be notified soon, they don't have to wait for the board for URL ISPP

How is everyone doing on getting their PRT scores up? I was told that Low Good is a safe place to be going into OCS and that getting the push ups / planks once in OCS is going to happen organically (by getting the dog piss smoked out of us for weeks straight).

Make sure you have good form on push ups and planks before anything else. Perfect form should be habitual. After that just hammer out volume in everything. I’ve found that 150-200 pushups 3-4 times a week really helped me. Same thing for planks just do ab exercises every other day until you can’t anymore. Running is simple, just put miles on your feet. obviously don’t hurt yourself by making a huge volume jump in any exercise. Be used to working out tired and sore. Aim to be in the top group, don’t settle for anything less.

No, get it your score to at least good high if not excellent low. Pushups you should be getting max, same with the plank. Running might be harder for some folks but come on, it's 1.5 miles, at least get under 12 minutes.

My plank and running (above 5k ft) will be my strongest (in the EH-EL region). I'm struggling to increase my pushup count lately though, I've got a while until I'm available to go to OCS, but am just targeting a GH.

Just to confirm the pushup rules: It is a 2min timer, correct form, can take a rest with arms fully extended, but cannot lift the hands off the ground, correct?

Yes that’s correct. Just get used to doing pushups on pushups . Do them until you can’t, take a couple minutes to rest, and do some more. It wouldn’t hurt to supplement with some weights (Overhead press, bench press)
