31OCT22 SNA/SNFO BOARD

What a jerk! There isn't anything wrong with telling someone the truth, in fact I told many people they weren't competitive but they would be doing most of the work so it they wanted to submit I would help them submit.

I also didn't care if someone said they were also applying to other services for one reason, I knew I was a damn good recruiter and if they were selected by a USN board they were going USN.

In my entire recruiting time I lost exactly 0 to other services, and I lost only 1 who declined after selection and that was actually a good thing, technically it was 2 but the 1 changed his mind and I was able to turn the selection back on.
Yeah I appreciate the honesty, but it would've been nice to hear it from him from the start, instead of him reassuring me that I'm "good" even though I was lacking.

Went to MEPS about a week ago and got the results back that say I failed depth perception test, definitely came as a shock to me MEPS guy gave no indication I did bad on it and I have a FAA first class medical which I know doesn't mean anything to them but still definitely surprised.

My recruiter says he can get a waiver for it, but reading through the forums makes me think the waiver will definitely hurt my packet. I am going to an actual eye doctor on the 14th for a second opinion, so hopefully all goes well and I'll have everything submitted for this board.

Anyone heard of or have a similar situation?

Which DP test did they administer?

I'm not sure the name of it but it was a paper with dots on it and I put on these glasses, and they told me to tell them which dot out of a group of three looked the clearest to me.
That’s the standard navy depth perception test. It’s annoying but once in you’ll have to do it every year. I’d get a second opinion from an optometrist

Definitely disheartening, thank you for the info. Will have to look into LASIK/PRK hopefully that will help some with depth perception.
Do all of the branches do this test for their pilots?

You can't waive DP, if your civilian ophthalmologist gives you a good to go letter then give that to your recruiter.

Ive had to do the 3 dot test about 15 times since ive been in and had to do it for my flight physical.
What’s up man, it’s been a minute.

Yeah I had to do the book and glasses for my flight physical too. At Meps when I joined, they had me test DP on some machine

This right here is the way to go. I asked my eye doctor to administer the dot test on me and he cleared me once I passed. I just had to give my recruiter the note from the visit.

Hey guys retaking my ASTB tomorrow. Scored a 63 7/5/7 on the last one. I bought a stick and throttle like the one they give us for the test and have been practicing that a bit. I think that's what bombed my score last time. Any last minute advice y'all can share would be much appreciated.

Also, does anyone have any input on how age factors into the whole selection process? I'm pushing the upper limits and turning 30 in November.

I would use the Jantzen simulator on the lowest difficulty on the longest time and keep ramping it up when it gets easy.

I would start at medium and do 60 seconds of that and then go up one difficulty each time at 60 seconds until max difficulty. Went from a 6 to a 8 PFAR
