October 2021 CEC Board

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread to connect with whoever else has submitted their package for the October 2021 CEC Board (Active Duty). I know I'm copying a thread from a year ago but I figured we could compare stats and share updates with each other as we wait to hear back in November. If some of us get selected it will be nice to have connected beforehand too.

Major: Civil Engineering (Graduated in May 2019)
GPA: 3.6
FE/EIT: EIT Certified
Experience: Lots of extracurriculars in college, internships, total of close to 4 years of experience working in the engineering consulting world.
OAR: 64

Who else is out there?

I applied for the collegiate program personally but I’m eagerly awaiting the results as well

Major: Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.375
Experience: Research internship and officer/team captain of the TAMU rugby team
OAR: 74 (Though they say this doesn’t matter much)

Hoping to hear back by the end of next week, seems it takes about 3 weeks from the date of the board for past people to hear back.

Great to hear from someone else out there! Good luck, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Collegiate program would be a sweet deal.

Good luck to you as well! I wonder if the lower amount of interest/activity on the boards of airwarriors for this selection cycle compared to older ones means less applicants though? It'll be interesting to see how many people get selected.

Thank you! I have been wondering that as well. Pretty much zero responses on this thread and on Reddit when I’ve asked if there are others that applied to the board. I suppose that’s better for those that applied.
I think that applying to the first board for 2022 quotas will be good for our chances as well.

This is not the first board for 2022 quotas, this will be the first board held in FY 2022, NRC started filling spots for those who will commission in FY 2022 6 months ago.

NRC divides the number of available spots by number of boards for the year so they are about equal and they set "limits" on applicants per board, the board can use all the available spots allocated for that board or not.

Hey! Welcome to the thread! Looks like you’ve got a lot of experience!

Unfortunately there has still been no word. I’ve reached out to my officer recruiter a few times since the board convened (most recent was yesterday) and he hasn’t had any updates for me. I was hoping we’d hear back before the holidays as I imagine that could drag things on even longer.

Good to know there are others out there anxiously awaiting results haha.

I actually just got a text back from my recruiter that said “They are having some delays getting the proper authority to sign off on the result because the Admiral is on travel all the time.”
So sounds like it’s all settled they’re just waiting to get it signed off on.

Hey, I applied to the last board in June, but my recruiter told me that everything is decided the day the board convenes then they just need to wait until the higher ups sign off on the list to make it "official" then they can tell the candidates. So if thats what theyre waiting for then it should be released any day now.

essentially correct, they need to add in OCS dates, and some other admin functions after the board makes the selections.
