YHGTBFSM with the Orwell references. So people are allowed to commit an armed invasion of government spaces, and the FBI is just supposed to shrug their shoulders and slow-walk the investigation?
An “armed invasion” without arms?

If you have to constantly lie about what happened to make it sound worse, what does that tell you about what happened?

We should go after the people that assaulted police and destroyed property at the Capitol. Just like we scoured the country for the rioters after months of riots. We did look for them, right?

No worries. You put it in quotes, so my first assumption was the billboard presented it that way. Given the number of misspellings, split infinitives, and other writing faux pas I see in mainstream media, I wouldn't have been surprised.
So you are saying my true calling is writing copy for the media?

All part of the plan, Comrade.

“But it’s not just New York where liberals are excited at the opportunity to train people to further divide their own communities. The mayor of deep blue Austin, Texas, is urging citizens there to snitch on their neighbors, too. Red State reported the mayor urging residents to report those who are not complying with his order, “If you see violations in the community, construction sites, restaurants, it would be good to call 311 and let the city and county know what’s happening.””

Eh.

Tip lines to report crimes have been a part of policing forever. Cops can't really do their jobs without some level of citizen assistance. If they didn't need help, that's when we're really in Big Brother territory, because it means the electronic surveillance systems are providing the government with everything they need.

Now, the COVID tip lines...yeah that's quite a bit over the top - COVID violations are to my knowledge not defined as an actual crime.

Seeing as how the quote was about covid tip lines...

Regardless, I think the Patriot Act is going to look like child’s play compared to what I’m sure is being cooked up right now.

In most states they are hanging their hat on "violation of a lawful order", which is a crime. Anyone want to go to court and argue a COVID executive order in the interests of public health isn't lawful, go ahead. I know some are currently being litigated, but I don't have that kind of money or time. The government seems to be winning those cases.

If we really lived in the surveillance/big brother state that some think we do these people (and others) would have disappeared ages ago. Or immediately following the Capitol riot. And tip lines wouldn't be needed.

Folks can arm themselves with more than just firearms, the insurrectionists armed themselves well enough to injure more than a score of officers and murder one.

If signs, flags, and random objects are considered arms, then I guess every protest, sporting event, or most any gathering is an “armed mob”. Take a minute and think about how stupid your argument is. Words mean things.

As a member of the “armed” forces, were you given a flag or a weapon to use in combat. Don’t answer that, I know you were Navy.

I guess the definition of "armed" changes with your social status and the color of your skin.

Shot holding a long pole, https://abc7.com/suspect-shot-carrying-stick-downtown-los-angeles-shooting-officer-involved/1785073/

Shot holding a pipe mistaken for a gun https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/loc...-new-york-city-brooklyn-crown-heights/465020/

Shot holding a metal pipe https://www.dailybulletin.com/2020/...etal-pipe-before-officer-shot-him-in-ontario/

Shot unarmed https://www.npr.org/2020/12/23/9497...armed-black-man-within-10-seconds-of-encounte

I'd say its a safe bet that people displaying violence with any blunt object can be considered armed and law enforcement tends to agree. But hey, different rules for different people... I guess that fire extinguisher that crushed Officer Sicknick wasn't a weapon either.

That would be the case if every protest, sporting event or most any other gathering invaded a seat of government with the intent to overthrow it, assassinate government officials and murdered a police officer while they were at it. But they usually don't do any of that, so not really.

Take a minute and think about how stupid your argument is. Words mean things.

Words mean things, how...deep?

While 'arms' usually mean firearms it isn't always the case, after all how many times do we read about how a person was 'armed with a knife' or other weapon in police reports?

arm noun (2), often attributive
Definition of arm (Entry 3 of 5)
1a: a means (such as a weapon) of offense or defense especially : FIREARM

But hey, lets argue over semantics while ignoring the intent and the actual actions of many of the folks who stormed the Capitol.

Yes, “armed” doesn’t always mean firearm. It can mean another weapon like a knife. How many people were brandishing arms? None? Ok we’re done here.
