I think the fact that no one is touching this with a 10ft pole is making lean towards "not a chance"...

As an update, I applied to the Border Patrol as well and they recommended me unsuitable for duty because of it. I have retained an attorney to try to mitigate the event for future background checks like with the Navy, etc.

I also spoke with a National Guard recruiter and he said I would qualify for enlisted duty as an E4, then after one year, apply for OCS with the NG, and I would probably get accepted as long as I had good reviews from my superiors. It might be the only way, sign up as enlisted, prove myself, get the promotion. My understanding is that I might be too old for the enlisted to officer program with the Navy.

Oh yeah, no problem. Gotta love those recruiters, they always know what to do! :D

Don't get yourself down. If this is something that you beleive in go for it. Just don't be upset if it doesn't work out. There are waivers and depending on what they see in your individual circumstances you could get through. I work with a guy who was turned away from every service due to a metal plate in his head. After years of specialists and letters the Navy is granting him a waiver for it. Another guy I went to flight school with had an assault charge on his record and he made it through the Air Force. So I say apply fill out the forms see how you do; just don't make this your only option. Best of luck, hope things work out for you.

What are the honest chances of selection with something like this?

No one here is going to be able to tell you exactly what your chances are, but know that they are exactly 0% without applying. I think a pretty good indication that you actually have at least a fighting chance is this:

After all of this, my recruiter wanted me to take the ASTB, which I did, and still gather letters of rec which I am in the process of doing.

The fact that he is moving forward with your application shows to at least me that he does not think you are a complete waste of time.

Either way, good luck!

He bowls overhand.
So if I read your post properly, you were arrested but never actually convicted of a crime?

While Flash is correct that no one can tell you your absolute chances, I don't think that would be a deal breaker. If the question says "convicted" anywhere in it, you say no. If it says "arrested," you say yes.

Age: 30 (yeah, I know, time is running out)
This is going to be a big issue. You are already too old for aviation, and you'd be cutting it close for other designators.

A NG enlisted recruiter has no idea what your chances would be of getting accepted into OCS would be. He's just blowing smoke up your ass so that you'll enlist.

To clarify my above post, I have no idea what your chances are. Enlisted recruiters have a reputation for saying anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. By a little wary and get his promises in writing.

Good muster guys.
My situation was different than yours however I got a misdemeanor months before my application for the boards went through. Although mine was for a traffic violation (Drag Racing says the cop....) It was still a misdemanor. I would say apply anyways, you have decent ASTB scores and if you get rejected, what did you lose? Show drive and determination.

Just curious but how exactly did you pinch her?

What are my chances?

I am 24 years old, live in South Florida, and have a BA in logistics from the University of North Florida. I scored a 5/6/6 50 on the ASTB (took it once after studying for about 2 weeks). I have no prior flight experience. The only thing on my police record is a "leaving the scene of an accident with property damage (no one injured)" in which it was resolved adjudication withheld. Physically, I am in great shape and I am very motivated. My OCS package is almost complete and the only area I am interested in is becoming a pilot. I am not sure how high the current demand for pilots is, so what do you guys think are my chances of getting in? Also, is there anything I should do before sending in my application to better my chances of getting in?
Thanks,
John

Oh dear, you have committed the ultimate sin. I suggest a quick editing of this post to remove all questions regarding chances. No one here can answer that. Do some searching, especially look for statistics. Also, there are a bunch of stickies on this board, one of them I believe relating to this type of question.

Notice the name of that particular section of the forum. Not all posts necessarily pertain to you. However, it's a good start, then do some searching.

People write posts like this all the time on this forum. Nobody will be able to tell you what your chances are, your best bet is to apply and see what happens. Demand for pilots is ever changing. Don't worry about having no prior flight time, from what I hear that is not a big issue. Good luck

I heard that the only pilot spots open were for fighter pilots ... ehem ...

The chances right now are 0%. If you submit the application, the chances will increase.

Current demand for pilots: yes

Check past month board threads and compare yourself to those who say they are getting pro-rec'd.

I am out of wisdom for the moment ... weekend must be drawing near
