This effects Coast Guard too.does this apply to Coast Guard students also?
Word is that MATSG-21 CO is NOT going to make Marines live in the Q per a 2nd Lt that just had his pre-API briefing from the Col.
Well, I find that again to be UNSAT. They are handing a guy a bill for moving because they are forcing him to move out of his APT at the end of the lease?
They are FORCING a move, but not ready to pay for it? Sad.
I know...I'll beat someone to it: Just get a couple of buddies and get them beer and pizzas!
Besides the fact of invonviencing your friends over what should be a non-issue, what happend when someone stumbles and your TV ends up broken? Or all the damage to that new sofa from accidently getting stuck on a nail...etc, etc. Now you are stuck with paying for that, too.
Here you go, ensign! You must move out of your apartment, pay extra to live in a BOQ (unless you are a moron, you make buku bucks staying in town; I lived alone in Gov Gate and still came out a little ahead), pay extra to move, and pay extra to have your stuff stored. If you had made some finincial decisions (or heaven forbid, have child support or something), your pockets could be running on fumes real quick.
Classic, really.
But shaking your fist at the sky and yelling will only make you tired...and people will make fun of you. The rules are the rules, no matter how silly they may be. (Like having to take my radar detector down from my visor even though it's already unplugged...but I digress).
OTOH, I have been at bases and WANTED to live in the BOQ, but they don't even have one. (NS Mayport, NAS Corpus)
Had I had to move straight to a Q out of TBS I wouldn't be nearly as butt-hurt as if I got my apartment yanked, which some of the above posts make it sound like the plan is.
And I submit this: What if you were in this situation but were a prior, or person who had a job before joining the ranks? You are older than many of the IP's. Maybe have more issues with moving into tiny space than they do.
Soooooo....
What if you went to Whiting as an IP, only to find out that the policy was now "ALL Officers checking in live in the Q until it is full." I suspect there would be a lot more outrage and a lot less "just accept it."
This doesn't affect me at all, it is just nasty in general. My fist is occupied anyway....my radar detector doesn't just remove itself, either, you know.
:icon_wink
When I was there, it was generally a once over to make sure that you didn't burn the place down or stockpile explosives in your room. Wanton buffoonery check, if you will.
.It's not an RLP. Not even remotely so.
