ET2, I was selected this year, which was my second year applying. You already have the key, which is to not give up and keep improving your package. In the time between submitting packages, I took College Physics I and II, took Pre-Calc and other classes as well as CLEPed 10 exams. I also continued pursuing my degree for OCS as backup! Another friend of mine, got picked up this year too for pilot option, Second time applying. I heard it takes 3 tries on average. You have the motivation and there is no doubt in my mind that you will get it! Keep charging and ensure you keep leadership positions and if necessary get civilian leadership roles, Big Brother, Boy Scouts etc.

Whew... This has been a long 2 months. I've been busting my a-- at the end of this year. It was real tough to get the motivation back after hearing that the last package was a bust, but I'm back in the saddle now. I've locked up my "A" in Calc I, Chem 152 (Lec & Lab), not sure about C++ (now that's a tough class!!! But somehow I have the highest grade in the class !?!) I'm pushing myself hard now, takin care of school and MTS at the command. I just passed my Pre-Board yesturday, with my Final on Fri. If I can lock up that MTS I should be a shoe in for an EP come March. I'm gonna have to take a break when stand down comes around. I've been looking into some Volunteer activities also. Plus I have to get in the command GMT chiefs' face about getting that command collateral. I know there's a lot of you out there who didn't make it, but it's past time to get up and get going. Hope to see all you Boys and Girls on the other side of that selectees list next year.

Keep kicking @ss! It only took me 8 years and 2 STA apps, 3 LDO apps, and 1 OCS app to get selected!

I am very impressed with your motivation. The change you have made from a low GPA in high school to being the top grade in classes is quite an improvement. I too suffered a 2.4 GPA in high school, but am now getting a 3.0 with about two years of college finished. I still feel that I can do better. Was it the Navy that gave such motivation or getting married? Hopefully one of the two caused the change because I am currently in the DEP program waiting to leave on the 19th of May just after getting married on on May Day.

Keep up the hard work! I know you'll get what you want because as you said, it is your heart's desire. As I have started to learn, "The only thing that can stop you is you."

Master Training Specialist!!!

You know what I'm sayin!!!

It's so sweet. I took care of C++, finished my final program and took the final, so I'm pretty much guaranteed my "A", I'm glad.

I was looking forward to a nice holiday break, but after going out golfing with my father yesturday, we took a stop by the airport. Like 1 month ago I asked him to take me up flying (he's a CFI) to remind me why I'm busting my butt here. So we go out there, and he pays for/enrolls me in a 141 flight school!

???????WHAT????????

So now my holiday break, just turned into study and fly my butt off. But this is a good study my butt off! I know, I know, life is tough. Man I don't even know what to say, but "Thanks Dad

It's gotta be...

The desire to fly gives me the motivation.

The family gives me the means.

STATUS UPDATE.

Alright... We'll I've been flying pretty consistently now. I solo'd last week after 12.5 hours. Sweet! We're up to some shorts and softs, then a Cross Country the week after the Super Bowl. I'm about half-way through, and I feel great.

I've still been busy, busy though (what else is new) Been going to school for the NAV, FLL and CTTI this month. Oh, and Calc II and Physics 1A starts next month, yipee.

Don't forget that Evals are due next week. I'll have to put some extra time into writing this one... if you know what I'm saying.

Keep me in prayer.

I'm currently going through San Diego Flight Training International (SDFTI) out of Montgomery Field. It's been great, but time consumming. I'm trying to finish studying up so I can take the FAA Written Exam, but Calc II and Physics are tough! They take up a bunch of my time. Not to mention still teaching at work.

BTW. My wife and I are pregnant again!!! :icon_bigg Crazy!!! I think it's gonna be a girl, cuz she's more sensitive with girls than with boys. Due around August though.

Oh yeah, I just got my Eval back too. I'm very excited that I got ranked very well against the other E-5's. I've been working very hard, and all my family and co-workers have been really out on a limb helping me out. Thanks. :icon_mi_1

Our command wants the packages in the next month or so, but mine is pretty much the same as last year's with some new ACT scores, updated Transcripts, and current Eval. Oh, and a new personal statement. Gotta take a look at that one too. I can tell it's getting close to boards time because I have that weird feeling in my stomach. I get it every year around this time. At any rate, I gotta get back to studying for a Calculus test tomorrow. Always fun. Take care.

Do People Still Read This Stuff???

Hello everyone,

Got a status update. I hope some of you out there are still following this. I hope it turns into a great story in the end... :icon_grin

So I finished my first board this Monday. It went pretty good. They all liked my package and said I should be very competitive. They helped me out by giving me some constructive advice on ways to improve my personal statement. I'll be seeing the captain 2 weeks from now. I hope it goes over well!

*That's an understatement*

If anyone needs any help on the kind of things that got asked, just let me know.

STA21pilot,

I have to have my package in by the 10th of next month, and the interviews are scheduled for the first week in june. Any help for the interviews would be VERY appreciated. I'm still working on my personal statement also. What kinds of things did you say about why you are choosing your designator? Thanks for any help in advance.
