Well, this hit the street finally. I've been holding it in for awhile, and I don't think my rage is able to be expressed in words on the internet. Whoever runs/ran security needs to be fired, and I'll keep my thoughts on the entire muslim world to myself. They're not productive unless I have a red button under my right thumb.

It's not "just" two "soldiers" killed. I would guess that anybody from the community knows who it is, but I will keep it to myself since it's not published in the article. I've got so much rage right now.

No words to express how big of a loss this is - Marine, warrior, leader, supreme wiseass, husband, father. Godspeed brother, you're one of a kind and you'll be sorely missed. Beyond the loss I feel only anger.

It's been a really bad weekend. Words fail to express my anger, outrage, disgust, sadness, and pain. Part of me is embarrassed that I didn't hurt this deeply over each one of the fallen. I don't think that I have the capacity.

Rest easy, Otis. You'll really be missed, brother.

To the Marines still over there: get some. Good hunting.

Is this getting decent news coverage in the mainstream channels? Not watching much tv where I am working.

It's tough to lose anybody to these monsters, but doubly hard when they are friends, buddies & brothers. Condolences to all our brothers & the fallen's families.:(

I found this quote in the article completely asinine:

"The assailants’ true motives are impossible to verify."

Our ambassador the the U.N., Susan Rice, with a straight face said today on a Sunday talk show that the embassy riots in the Mideast reflect only Muslim anger with the anti-Islam film and not any anger towards the American administration or its foreign policies. The gap between what they say and the reality I perceive has gotten way beyond what might be a simple difference of opinion.

Honestly, these folks have a very tough job (spare me...I know the front-line troops job is harder). They can't come out and say what they personally feel...they have... I don't know.... how many American lives living overseas to protect...expats, contractors, doctors, nurses, missionaries...who knows? They walk a razor's edge every day trying to not make things any worse. Not sure what else they can do. Sometimes they have a very shitty job...I'm sure multiple events of this week have reinforced that. Just my opinion...

It is one thing to say that "PM So&SO and I had a constructive & frank exchange of views" (i.e., I told him he & his country are both full sh*t). It is something else to lie to the American people about the facts of a situation. We now know from multiple sources (including the interim PM of Libya) that the attack on our consulate in Benghazi began at 9:35PM and that there were NO demonstrations underway at that time. This was a terrorist attack, pure & simple, that had nothing to do with any anti-Islam flick. Just my opinion, also.

Pretty shitty all around.

Sadly, reminds me of the CVW-14 "bad day"... Aug. 21, 1967, CVA-64. VA-196 lost 3 of 4 A-6s launched on one alpha strike on Hanoi. Result: 3 KIA, 2 POW (Hanoi), 1 POW (China). Total losses for one mission - 20% of flight crews and ~33% of aircraft in one squadron, disastrous!:(

Okay...I've been lectured. Got it. What's your solution? Burn the crops; slaughter the herds; poison the wells; sow salt in the fields; kill all the first born; "Duke Nukem"?

We're long on talk, short on solutions. These people are evil, ergo they do bad things. That's why they're our enemy. There's no good solution at this point. While this administration isn't exactly hitting the ball out of the park on this, the last one fucked it away as well. Plenty of blame to go around.

How to go forward? Not sure. What I do know is that half-measures, like being there in a defensive posture, not getting the Afghans ready (latest word is no partnered ops below battalion level) nor seeking and destroying the enemy ourselves, is just pulling off a band-aid slowly. Either all in or all out. No in-between is acceptable.
