He bowls overhand.
A T-55. He was drafted into the Yom Kippur War after his older brother fled - the Egyptians required the eldest man to serve in the military. As a Christian (with the associated tattoos to mark him), he was more afraid of being killed by his Muslim "brothers in arms" than the Israelis. Luckily, they didn't frag him... but he's a charismatic person, so maybe not luck...What tank (s) did you father in law serve in? M60?
He was a maintainer, which means he wasn't in the tank when it got blown up by the IDF, albeit he had his fair share of attacks before that. After the war, he used all the money he had (a few hundred British pounds) to trade a ticket to the UK, where he worked side jobs and met his wife. They immigrated to the US, where he used his skills as a tank maintener to fix someone's car, who knew a guy who got him an upstanding job that allowed him to put three daughters through college. He's now retired with a NYC pension worth $90k a year.
Not Arnold Schwarzenegger level, but not too shabby.
Interestingly, he is upset that we're not aggressive enough toward Iran / Hamas / Yemen / Egypt.
