Oxygen Masks

Silly question. I searched google and here to no avail. Anyone have a picture of a pilot with the oxygen mask on in a T-34C? I scoured checklists and manuals with no luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. Cool looking.

Reason: I noticed the helmet and boom mic in every pic but never a shot of the oxygen mask. I wasn't sure if there was a different type of oxygen mask to overcome the boom mic somehow. Weird question I know but just trying to figure out how it looked. Standard looking.

There is a mic in the oxygen mask. When you need to don your mask in a T-34 you swivel the boom mic up.

Any reason why the oxygen mask is not attached to the helmet like on the T-6? Where do you stowe the mask since it is not attached all the time?

34s don't go above 10000 very much, and the studs don't wear the masks very often. the mask is attached to the helmet just like it is in the T-6...they're called bayonet clips. there's no reason to have it dangling like maverick if you're not going to use it though, you don't get style points on gradesheets for how good you look up front.

Instead of letting the mask dangle, you use a clip on the oxygen hose to secure it to the right side of the cockpit.

The mask will be plugged into the oxygen cord. On that cord is a clip that can hang from the right side of the cockpit. The mask ends up dangling down just below the seat.

I appreciate the quality of responses again. Pretty damn impressed with the speed of the responses too.

I agree with the cool style points. Not the reason I was questioning the placement of the mask. I am an AF guy that will be flying this bad boy soon and this was just something that I couldn't visualize as I day dream about my future flights. Makes sense where it is kept since the profile is usually below 10k. (Didn't know that either.)

That answers it for me. Thanks again.

I shove mine into the map case and close the case, don't need that thing dangling anywhere imo.

Except that the map case is where most dudes put there bag of puke if they get sick... so... I'd rather shove mine behind the seat instead of running the risk that the last guys bag leaked... I heard a horror story...
