Tell that to the guy in my class who fucked up his knee and got NPQed from Aviation. OBTW, this was when they were cutting attrites loose, so it was "thanks for your service and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out." What a way to end a career, and waste the Navy's money and an Academy education. That's too bad ... it was a fun evolution. Look's like the safety Nazis caught wind of someone having fun. I'm sure funding, time to train, yada yada played a factor as well ...

Hoo-rah, yut-yut only goes so far. I thought it was fairly high-risk for the return in training you got.
Are the rumors true? My API class (4508) was the LAST class that got to do redneck parasailing? Is it true that this evolution was cut from the syllabus? Bummer...
I'm all about malice towards the Air Force, but they didn't invent that contraption. It's been in use at jump school at Fort Benning for a looooong time, which is where the AF got the idea. Since nearly every dude in the military that learns to jump static line goes through that trainer during ground week, maybe they thought there was something to it.they invented this BS piece of garbage called the lateral drift trainer to help teach it...it was the same thing as the PLF trainer in the gravel pits at API only slightly higher up. Worthless.
