NEWS New Female Officer Uniform Testing

I can't imagine someone wanting to be seen in public in those ridiculous blue cammies. They look like something the bad guys would wear in a low budget sci-fi movie.

The type II/III are the NWUs that are actually real camo, so it is ironic that they are not allowed out in public when blueberries are. And aquaflauge was used liberally in Battlestar Galactica, so you're right on point there.

I take advice from CPOs, not direction.

I've been trying to explain that idea to intel Os. Whether or not you, as an officer, get to wear a bag has nothing to do with what the goat locker thinks. Do other services' officers find themselves saying "Well, but the senior NCOs...." as much as I seem to hear it in the Navy?

A good CPO can have a discussion with an officer and phrase things in a way to let the officer know what needs to be done without telling the officer what needs to be done, of course the issue has to be a valid one.

I have been shocked a number of times at home uber empowered some E6 and above are in the Air Force, to the extent of challenging Officers, and being under the mistaken impression that since they are a specialist/etc that they can abrogate your authority. That and it boggled my mind how the AF caters to AF E9s/"Chiefs", treating them equivalent to senior ranking officers... I always had fun watching their head explode, and have been told quite a few times "that an E7 isn't a Chief"... well, let me introduce you to the Navy my friend. Meh, two widely different cultures and methodologies for leadership, and it isn't to say that the AF doesn't do things extremely well. God knows we have (as mentioned above) some chuckle heads in the Navy too.

Goat lockers and newly minted Chiefs will always try and test the bounds of what they can get away with Officers they don't know, test you're mettle so to speak. Subtle and unsubtle means are always at your disposal to steer them back into their lane. To me, leadership has always been about team building, communication and meeting goals. Use your assets and develop them accordingly.

I asked one of the female officers in my reserve unit what she thought of the new proposed uniforms and she ranted for 10 minutes how much they sucked, she isn't afraid of speaking her mind.

very well said, now if we could just get some people I work with in the civilian sector to understand that life would be good.
