Interesting study that the AP got ahold of. Apparently, for recruits with waivers:

Pros
  • More likely to re-enlist
  • Get promoted faster
  • Lower rate of dismissal for personality disorders
  • Lower rate of dismissal for unsatisfactory performance

Cons
  • Higher desertion rate
  • Higher misconduct rate
  • Higher rate of appearance before a courts martial
  • Higher dropout rate for alcohol rehabilitation failure

Based on the percentages listed in the article, it seems as if there's not that drastic a difference between those with waivers, and those without.

Students Accused of Trying to Steal Alligators From Mini Golf Pond

Five students are charged with trying to steal juvenile alligators from a Florida miniature golf course in what police think was a college fraternity prank, MyFOXTampaBay.com reported.

Police said three Embry Riddle University College students served as lookouts, while two others jumped into the alligator pool at the Congo River Miniature Golf Course in Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.

Surveillance cameras caught the 18- and 19-year-olds using a piece of a palm tree and duct tape to carry out the act, and they fled when police arrived around 3 a.m., according to the TV station.
The teens are charged with unspecified felonies.

How's that for a felony charge?

Sidenote: One of the accused was in my ATC class this semester.
