I knew about the Scan Eagle stuff, but is that the size/direction they're committing to? It seems the LHA/LHD level of ship could carry something larger.

HellifIknow. Beyond my pay grade. VMU is growing, though, so it's probably not out of the realm of possibility that different platforms would be acquired.

You weren't the only one... Thanks to one of the many fires burning throughout the country, my aircraft kicked off flares into a group of people just north of Monrovia. Good thing it happened when Wizard was onboard my aircraft, and I was a new HAC. Sweet. After we dropped him at the embassy, we flew back by and saw the huge plume of smoke from some guy's shanty house. Whoops.

Not a big deal, I'm sure they had insurance.

I'll give the guy props for thinking outside the box, though he is wishing for something that ain't gonna happen, like putting "hookers and blow" on your Christmas list and hoping your wife will come through.

A ballsier recommendation would have been for him to recommend Rhinos--something within the realm of possibility. The Marine air honchos aren't really a big fan of that idea. Strategic communications and all that. I floated an anti-Y/Z article and got a cold reception in some quarters.

Heard a story today about a Marine -122 IP who made the "Marines should be buying Rhinos" suggestion kind of off the record to some reporter on a roadshow. It got published, and apparently an angry Gen of some sort back east called -122 and told them that Marines RAG IP's shouldn't be flying Rhinos lol. Not sure if this is true, but that must have been an enjoyable pee pee slapping.

Yeah, that was an interesting couple weeks. Now they almost never fly legacies IOT save the hours for the studs since the jets are about to turn into pumpkins, flight hour-wise.

Yes, Marine IPs fly Rhinos. They only stopped flying them for a very short period of time.

So are the Marine IPs getting to fly Rhinos again?

Yes. Not sure if my post was poorly worded, but that's pretty much all they fly these days. Legacies pretty much RP only these days.
