Hello there!
I am 19 years old, and I graduated high school this past Saturday with a 2.75 gpa.
I am retaking the act so that I can get the necessary scores (which I feel are with in my grasp as I got
close to them with out even trying really.)
I applied for NROTC this month.
Physically: I am 5'8" 155 pounds
I was diagnosed with asthma as a child, the last record I found for it dates back to a year ago reading the following:
This is a 19 year old brought in by his mother with the complaint of earache, He is a known asthmatic and has been using his albuterol as instructed by another physician.

This is a cranky 19 year old but he does not look toxic, he is complaining of his ear for two days on the right. He is using his Albuterol, he said, about four times a day and needs a refill, but he is not having any asthma symptoms.
HEENT: Head is normocephalic. Eyes are clear. Ears: the right tm is red and bulging. Nose there is no drainage. Mouth and Throat: Tonsil and Pharynx look normal.
Chest: Good Breath Sounds in the front and back. No rhonchi, rale, or wheeze

Assessment and Plan: Left Otitis. I put him on z pak 250. Asthma seems controlled. I recommend that he stop using the metered does inhaler and I refilled the prescription. He is to use two puffs every four to six hours for asthma symptoms if needed.

Tonight I walked 2 miles (up hill down hill) and jogged probably 1/2 a mile (im kinda out shape as far as cardio) and I didnt suffer any cough or tightness in my chest, I was tired and had to breathe a little bit, but its been a long time since ive done any running.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to go to a specialist and have a methacholine challenge test done. Test can be expensive though.

If safely able, continue to work your cardio and these "asthmatic" symptoms may even go away.

I'm curious, when was the last time you actually used the inhaler, and in what kind of situations did you use it as a child?

I dont feel any danger arising from it, I havent been doing cardio exercises for a long time.
I recently went on a trip to Lake Powell, did more swimming than I have in a long long time and I was fine, no symptoms
I went hiking in Moab, no symptoms and Id never been on a serious hiking trip before.

I honestly dont remeber the last time I used it, I dont even know where it is right now.
As best as my medical records indicate, it was brought on in tune with another sickness.

Just putting my threadshitting hat on to point out that contrary to your title, there is actually not a single question in your OP.

Just want do you want to know? Will it prevent you from getting into NROTC? Probably not if you can run an entire PRT with at least a Good Low starting out. As a 4/C, especially if you are not scholarship, the program is lenient and lets you get things together. Ask us specific questions and we can answer them. I went through NROTC from 4/C to 1/C, so I can answer most questions (at least from my unit, but each unit is slightly different).

Yeah, pretty much thats the question.
Im trying to get in shape, I was once a really good runner but I havent done it in years (last time I ran competitively was midschool, I won every event I entered)
what does 4/c and 1/c mean? Sorry, Im just trying to get this all together.

thanks, I seem to be getting it from everyone except for you, have a nice day sir.

"Everyone" in this context is two other posters. I haven't posted anything in this thread (until now) because P3 FO said all that needs to be said, IMHO.

and the question I have, is why could he not be the same as those other 2? even if there is no question mark, they were able to reasonably respond. Let me put it this way
Am i completely and entirely screwed because of a diagnosis of Asthma even if im not really affected by it bringing into question rather or not I actually have it?
