I went to a flight based college as well, Western Michigan University. Where I picked up a commercial and a degree at the same time. It paid huge dividends during primary. Its just much more comfortable being familiar with the flight environment than your buddy who has never touched a stick before in his life. I was told the same BS that it could hurt you, and they want you to fly the military style. True. But the experience you will have over your peers is priceless. If you can get someone else to pay for it, do it. The VA paid for most of mine.
PS, what is the rating you get out of jets, anyone know?
