Length of time to get into OCS

I was wondering how long it takes from initial visit to recruiter to the time we arrive at OCS. I have read many different forums about the process of things we need to do but I am unaware of the length of this procedure. Thank you for your time.

It probably depends, but count on 6-9 months at a minimum. With the way things are now, that could be much longer (2 years?).

Anywhere from a few months to over a year. Having your stuff (LORs, Driving Record, etc...) together before you visit him will go a long way towards speeding that process up. Mine took about a year. I visited him in November 2009 and I was in class 05-11 on Oct 28th, 2010.

There is not a SET period of time for this process because there are different tests and qualifications for different MOS's. For example if you are trying for an aviation contract you have to take the ASTB and get approved for your regular physical and then get your flight physical.

First Contacted OSO: June 2009
Pro Rec'd: September 2009
Selected For Ground Contract: October 2009
Took ASTB: October 2009
Pro Rec'd: October 2009
Selected for Aviation Contracte: November 2009
OCS: June 2010
Flight Physical Approved: November 2010
Graduated College: December 2010
Commissioned: March 2011 (You can commission 4 months after your flight physical is approved)
TBS: July 2011
Report to Pennsacola for ground school around February 2012?

Message me if you have any other questions.

Could someone please give a more up to date timeline from when you meet the recruiter to when you get to OCS? Or is it the same as in 2011?
I graduated, going to take the ASTB next month. It seems like it’s a demotivating long wait to get to OCS, plus I’ve been hearing about a back up of applicants. Fill me in please.

Talk about a thread resurrection LOL.

There are many variable, some designators are going to take longer, some will not, without knowing more it is hard for those to provide input.
Thanks for the speedy reply.
Worst case scenario, how long are we talking? 2 years the most?

For me - SNA
ASTB: NOV 2021
MEPS: DEC 2021
Board: MAY 2022
OCS: SEPT 2022

P.S. I was originally given an OCS date of JAN 2023 but someone in my NTAG dropped and I was asked if I could leave within 2 weeks.

P.S.2: A friend of mine from the MAY 2022 board had a date of JAN2023 and is actually going in JUN2023.

P.S.3: your mileage may vary. There are still aviator selects from the NOV2021 board who have not yet been to OCS. I’d recommend on just focusing on doing well on the ASTB and letting the chips fall where they will
