The money (unfrozen funds) nuclear deal was an olive branch. Too bad for Iran they didn't really go for it.

Too bad for Iran even though they were complying with the deal....
I meant Soleimani's work; what we'd colloquially refer to as black ops.

Iran has their goals, we have ours. All of this latest business is going to hurt both of us but I think they're going to come out of this exchange the worse.

I think most Iranians are more interested in going about their daily lives than they are in spreading the revolution. I think their government is kinda mixed on that but they've sorta painted themselves into a corner over the last forty years and they're kinda stuck on 'death to America' like a broken record.

I think a lot of people in our country don't grasp what a bad guy and how brilliant Soleimani was or what he was capable of.

And here we are tonight.

I'd love to hear what you think, whether or not it's something I agree with.

edit: Iran will get more credibility, among their circle of friends, for standing up to the world's policeman/Great Satan/bully/take your pick. Maybe that's all they want (it is something they do always want; every country wants credibility with their friends).

I find it interesting that they say, "Death to America" and fire rockets into Iraq that kill Iraqis.

It's like they're acting like a wife beating asshole and treating Iraq like their beaten wife, "Look Barbara, if you didn't have those stupid, snotty, stuck up friends I wouldn't have to hit you. You're making me do this to you..."

CNN saying no Iraqi casualties.

From Iran’s foreign minister. If this is the case, and they throw their punch and say let’s call it a day, I would say that’s a big win for the US. Lobbing a dozen Scuds at bases in Iraq where the main victims are Iraqis is hardly a proportionate response to our killing Suleimani.

I’m interested to see whether that appeases hardliners in Iran- Zarif has always been pretty moderate. Maybe he’s trying to manage the escalation?

Question is, if this pops off, which Naval Aviator will have the intestinal fortitude to splash an F-14? That would be like blasphemy right?
That presumes any of them are still flyable. The jury is out on that.

There's about a dozen of them in pictures escorting the Russian Knights over Iran on their way to the Dubai air show around 2012ish. So I'd say they probably have a few flying. CENTCOM intel nerds lost their minds.

Just because Iranian maintainers presumably dropped dead making one X happen for 12 jets does not a combat capability make. How many of those jets were lead nose, with pylons that don't work, etc. etc.? Not gonna get an answer here; just bringing up apples vs oranges.

Sure. Just pointing out that they have flown some, somewhat recently. I don't think anyone would argue that they have a formidable air force.
