F-35B/C Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)

the US sales F-15's to Israel ... over the years Israel develops EA pods and other stuff ... Israel sales those pods & the other stuff to India ... India hosts USAF F-15's for Cope India '04 ... USAF F-15's gets "slammed" by the Indian AF during Cope India '04, per well publicized news media ... the USAF uses the outcome of Cope India '04 to justify to Congress the need for the F-22.

S/F

Lets not forget that in that particular engagement the F-15's were without AWACs support which would be like you guys going up without an E-2.
Can you do it = yes
Does it severly handicap your aircrafts ability = yes.

The Indians had their version of an AWACs and the US did not (don't remember why) and thus the Eagles were jumped by the Indian fighters BVR, when they got to the merge the US fighters that remained pounded a few of them before simply being overwhelmed by the shear numbers advantage of the Indian AF.

With regards to using that engagement to render money for the F-22, who says AF guys can't think ahead. :D

Seagoing F-35 (JSF) for the Aussies?

Australia is building two Amphibious Assault Ships based on the Spanish Juan Carlos design in conjunction with Spanish assistance. The Spanish version is equipped with a ski jump for Harrier operations soooo rumor has it the Australians will opt for some F-35B variants out of their planned JSF buy and return to fixed wing operations at sea by their Navy.

Juan Carlos I class shown in Spanish configuration

Any idea other than the noted troop carrying abilities how many a/c it will be able to handle?

Seems like that would be more of a helo ship with limited JSF support.

I can see how the Aussie Navy would want to move to more than a homeland defense(defence?) force, but it seems like they went ahead and blew their load on some nice big boats without really thinking about what they were going to do with them or who they were going to carry around...and why didn't they get Wasp class LHDs?

Anybody else think its funny to see a Boeing Hornet flying Chase for a Lockheed Aircraft. What they dont have any of a dozen F-16's floating around to do it.

There were F-16s flying chase in first portion of video. The F/A-18s that are shown later are during the Navy/Marine evaluation at Pax River and are from VX-23 (no F-16s in residence there).

Maybe I'm just seeing a little blurry right now, but the F-16 that went by the camera while the F-35 was taking off looked like it was wearing some CFTs. Is LockMart using a Block 60 Viper as a chase plane?
