August 2011 Board

One thing I can tell you is that, if you decide to get married now you might be able to get preference for co-location once you are commissioned. If you wait until you are commisioned you may risk having to postpone it for a couple of years since you may end up stationed very far from each other. My advice would be, if you guys are ready and have been planning on it already then you should do it and not wait for the commission so you can get stationed close together.

I would ask NCC or the OCS HD to see if getting married would affect your selection. I can't think of any reason why it would but just check with them to make sure you dont lose your selection due to going from single to married.

Being married to an enlisted or an officer is only frowned upon if you are both within the same chain of command.

Thanks... will further investigate! :)

Wings before rings...
Just curious, but did your recruiter say that BDCP was still open? Not sure how long you've been around these boards, but about a year ago, BDCP was closed through FY13.

I'm no expert on BDCP (if I were, I would've applied for it!), but I believe BDCP recruits for the year in which you'd graduate. Since you're a Junior now, that'd mean you'll graduate in FY13...which is what people were previously told was closed.

Yours isn't the first post I've seen of people applying for BDCP, so I'm curious what your NRD says. Good luck either way!

My recruiter said it was closed...then 2 or so months after that he called me up saying that they(the Big Navy) had miscalculated some numbers and there were a handful of application spots (I think he said something like 10) left open for pilot BDCP at the next board. He said BDCP will be going away until 2013 so this is its last hoo-rah so to say. I hope this is valid gouge. Everything seems to be up in the air and only time will tell. If I am fortunate enough to get selected, life will be good since BDCP is one of the best-kept secrets of the Navy. I'll let you know what happens.

So....Being a Career Counselor and ESO for my Command, I have access to the Board results page for my UIC. The Board results page has been updated with links for the Intel and IW 24 August Boards. The list has not been populated as of yet, but I assume this is preparation for load within the next few days. I know the list hasn't been populated because I have several Sailors in my Command that applied to both of these boards. Regardless of selection status, you will see your results via BOL i.e. Pro Rec, Non-select, or Alternate.

My OR said that there would be no Intel/IW Board for this FY, are you referring to next FY?

Like millsra said, there was a board that convened 22 August to select Intel/IW candidates. The result are already out. You should talk to your recruiter if your package was submitted, as you should have your results.

Hi Sonog,
Are you a civilian?... If you happen to be a fleet applicant, you could log onto BOL. :)If you are a civilian, I think the only way you could find out is through your processor, sorry. :(

Thanks PRISSY! Finished up my medical physical yesterday. Now just waiting for my background investigation. I signed the papers and was told it should start sometime next week. I am pretty worried mine will take much longer than the normal just because of my abroad experience. But it would be great to receive my FS sooner than later...guess I will just keep concentrating on PT until then

Final Selects and Dates are not contingent on a completed background investigation.

are the FS more based on getting medically cleared? and just starting the investigation?

To be able to receive a FS, you must have cleared medical and have the security investigation opened. With that said, many things can hang up THAT process. But yes...overall, that's all you need.
