They’ve been flying those for months Granted not all had that paint job, but I’ve seen that paint job a while ago too.

Edit: I don’t actually know how long “a while ago” is. It may not have been that long ago.
They had that paint job in early June, when I was in Lemoore. 147 was in my old airwing.

They're expecting SFF later this month. When they actually own their jets on paper, I.E. the ATO, is probably what is cueing this release. Either way, it is an event without any real significance, as they've been in the transition process since early 2018.

The jet in the picture is 147's first F35. The others painted with their squadrons tail flashes are on the books at 125. They will slowly get their complement of jets over the next few months.

Obviously 147 is the golden child right now, but once they are done transitioning are they going to start the process over with a second squadron or will 147 remain the only operational 35C squadron for some time?

There’s another squadron. It won’t start immediately after 147 is done.

Air Force said Panther. Some guys came up with “Sea Panther” for the C model. Patches for the Sea Panther will be viewed on a competitive basis.
