Spoke with a recruiter (CWO4) about this, this is not true...it is no longer required. Highly suggest you talk to the recruiter. I am really skeptic about forum information being out of date after speaking with the Chief Warrant Officer

The whole ASTB is required to apply for Intel.

Section-
040202. AVIATION SELECTION TEST BATTERY
a. Testing Overview. The Aviation Selection Test Battery
(ASTB) was developed by statistical methods to predict the
success of students in aviation officer training programs....
(2) The ASTB should be given in its entirety to all
applicants who indicate an interest in aviation and intelligence
programs....
(3) The Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) portion of the
test, the MST, RCT and MCT sections, may be given to individuals
who are not interested/not qualified for aviation and
intelligence programs. This score is applicable only to various
non-aviation designators as specified in the Program
Authorizations, however, Intelligence Program applicants are
required to take the entire test.

In Chapter 4 of the recruiting manual.

It might very well have changed since these publications since they were updated in October. If it has though, it has not made it into the manual. If your OR says otherwise maybe he has info that isn't published yet. I recall there being a possibility it was going to change, but wonder if it has officially since it wasn't in the most recent update. So if the information is out-of-date, then that is just the way it is. Only thing we have solid to go on, almost everyones OR at one point or another has said one thing then find out otherwise, is the publications. It is better to be safe than sorry.
thanks tbc.

Took the ASTB yesterday and felt pretty confident with it. I know Im not speaking in line with the last few threads but just hitting on the nature of the topic. Felt like the math was a little easier than some of the study materials. Reading comprehension was a tad tougher than expected, but still not bad. Mechanical I had the toughest time with but since everyone says it is mainly common sense, I went with what seemed to be the most common sense answer. Everyone is right, be prepared for a new angle on the Spatial Apperception section. Aviation and nautical went well. Get my scores next week, nervous and excited.

I took the ASTB in November of 2009. Scored 5/6/5. I thought the hardest part was the math because I am horrible. At the time I had not taken a math class in 5 years. The reading was just nerve racking because of the pointless paragraphs and answers that were similar. The rest of the sections just have to practice. The spatial appreciation and aviation/nautical knowledge were easy. I will gladly answer any questions about the test. I was super nervous and felt un-prepared but it all worked out in the end.

I am looking to get a contract for OCC-207 through the Marine Corps in June. We will see what happens.

Yeah, I hadn't taken a math class in about 4-5 years either so I spent a good amount of time reviewing that. I can't remember which document but look through the gouge, one of them on here has some EXACT questions that are on the ASTB (I took form 5).

Can you elabroate about the new spatial apperception section? I have the ARCO study guide and am using that. I test in 3 weeks.
