My sphincter is clinched with anticipation!

BTW that f-35/f-18 video is hilarious!

To the guy above me, knocked that one out of the water when I applied for PLC, 300 on the Marine PFT.
Damn dude. That is a score to brag about. I'm only at a 285. Maxed out my pull-ups and sit-ups, but that run always kills me.

Fellas,

I have been a swimmer for a very long time (age 7) and won some state titles, swam at University of Kentucky on scholarship, etc. Not trying to brag, just listing qualifications. ANYWAYS, I would be more than happy to help write you guys some swimming workouts! Sounds like you guys are generally in pretty good shape as it is, so you just have to work on being comfortable and efficient in the water. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to help! I'm a terrible runner myself, and I'm not even to the point where I'm timing my runs yet, so if anyone wants to return the favor and maybe help me get my run time where it needs to be, that would be fantastic! Also, I'm not up for this board, I just peruse a lot of threads on the site and stumbled across this conversation. If I'm out of line, put me in my place :)

I'm sure we would welcome any workout advice. My $0.02 for the running side what worked for me was use the C25K program, on a treadmill and use the speed you need to be at for the jogging/running side. And work your way up through it. Once you get to week 6 or 7 you likely will be at the pace needed for the 1.5mi. That said, I would suggest continuing to the 5k, it will help your fitness. Also another KY person. That makes three I believe.

Go to a website like mapmyfitness or use Google/Apple maps to create a route from your house to a point and back that is around 3 miles round trip. Run that route six days a week and try to run as hard as you can and never stop. You will slowly see a big increase in your times in a few months. You can also try running different routes to switch up the muscles, I have about 4 different routes I can run on any given day because I have a giant neighborhood and long sidewalks down two different main roads. What do you recommend for swim workouts? I think Randolph AFB has an indoor pool and I plan on making good use of it once I get selected.

If anyone wants ideas for swimming workouts, feel free to PM me. Anyone local, I'd be happy to meet with and work with in person, anyone not local, I'm also happy to tailor specific workouts based on goals, history, current fitness levels, etc. As far as running suggestions, thank you all for the advice, I'm likely going to try a bit of everything!

If you want to be in the best shape around, do the navy special warfare PTG (physical training guide). It's what all the SEAL candidates do in preparation for BUD/S and their PRT. It's kicking my butt

That would have been cool. I know there is another guy on here who is also in our area, but he is on the Indy side if i am not mistaken. But it would be cool to meet with some applicants especially if we all got selected. There are not a lot of us out here I bet.

Who is your OR if you don't mind me asking?

I live right across the river in Jeffersonville, but had to fly a trip to Florida this weekend so I missed Thunder. I did watch the air show on my iPad though!

Thanks, not going to lie but that run killed me for a while. I started at 24 min my best recorded time for the 3 mile was 17:39. My best 1.5 was 8:15. I'd be lucky to run 9:30 right now since I've gained about 15-20 lb of muscle since my last PFT. I was a skinny one.

I did this with one of my buds for a few weeks before he got shipped off with his SEAL contract. I am in no way a fish in the water but man I really shined on the running days. This is WAY above and beyond where you'll need to be for OCS (unless your spec ops), but if you want to do it make sure you stick to the guide or else you'll get shin splints!!

I didn't realize how behind I was. I haven't really posted much in this forum though. I am just here anxiously waiting like the rest of you guys.

Well hang in there a bit longer! We're getting close!!! Best of luck to you and everyone else awaiting the upcoming board!

I've been working on fitness 6 days a week. I just started the Spec Ops Pipeline Prep routine from www.failuretotrain.com. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://failuretotrain.com/failuretotrain/Pipeline_prep.html.

I figure if it helps whip prospective SEALS into shape, it should work for a prospective Naval Aviator.

Also, I haven't swam since swimming lessons at age five, but I managed to re-teach myself the freestyle, sidestroke and breaststroke over the last month or so using youtube videos. As a result, I've gotten my mile swim to roughly 60 minutes--although it doesn't look very pretty. PU/CU/1.5-mile Run are between "excellent" and "outstanding for my age group, but I still need a bit of work everywhere.

Keep pressing forward ladies and gentlemen! We're going to get there one of these days! Cheers!

I sat right below the camera that was filming the airshow. Literally the best spots in the house. The c-130 and blue angels flew right over us. And that boom the f-22 rocked my socks.
