I'm getting used to the CNS/ATM but the 8-blades are still proving to be difficult for my 3-part power corrections when the bird is light. I'm getting better, but it's definitely a challenge being so far aft on the power quadrant.

Or you just suck :) And wtf are the 6T's??? Isn't that primary lingo?

My instrument check in the HT's we went up to Montgomery. Approach radar was down, so I actually had to give a real PTAPTP report!
On leg home, Approach told me I either needed to hold or climb to 7K and contact Center. I looked at the IP and asked him what we should do and his response was "it's your checkride, made the decision".
So, knowing that I am less likely to screw up holding that I am doing a climb and switch channels, I elect to go with Center.
Once I check in with Center, I get put into holding. The first and only time I've been assigned holding was my Instrument Check in flight school.

It sounds like a lot of you guys don't have much experience flying overseas (both foreign shores and over seas). I've been in holding, had to make position reports, and even use HF comms. That was all normal and just part of the job.

I'm not questioning your overall experience, just that for operating in a non-US or non-radar environment.

Harrier Dude

Living the dream
Just Japan, Korea, and every somewhat friendly country in the God awful cesspool that is the Persian Gulf.

Mostly VFR and/or combat ops, though. Never needed the non radar stuff. Then again, in Japan you can fly VFR as high as you want.

Really dude? Give us a fucking break with that shit. I too was a COD pilot who did all that as well, even at night back in the day. You're joking right? Please tell me you are.
