August 2011 Board

Before I swore in on Thursday I talked to my recruiter about the upcoming boards. He told me that the only board that will be held in August will be for NA. NFO and SWO are on hold until the spring but everyone here knows that it could very well change. Good Luck to everyone and I hope you all will be seen shortly!

This is what I heard as well. Not sure about the SWO, etc boards still being open to "old" applicants, as I've not heard anything about that. Apparently patience is a virtue the Navy likes to test...and test frequently.

Does anyone know or have an idea of the date in which we would leave for OCS if accepted in August for SNA? I've been told anywhere between a month after acceptance to a year and half. Thanks ahead of time!

My guess would be sometime between February and June. Unless you're close to an age limit, or your community absolutely needs to fill a slot (not likely since almost no one's holding boards), you probably won't be leaving much earlier. Since this is still a FY12 board, I can't imagine they're going to fill the second half of FY13 already (possibly the first half though). If there's some holdup with your clearance or medical, however, you could very well be waiting that long.

At a minimum, you're looking at September for the results of the board, and then final select by October. Considering there are still people waiting on final select letters from as early as this time a year ago, though, I don't expect anyone leaving before 2012.

Thanks that helps a lot - just trying to figure out a living situation with roommates prior to leaving.

As long as I have been on these boards...I haven't gotten the FY12, FY11 business down. I was prorecced in March with MEPS and JPAS done in June. Any ideas on MY OCS date? (I know, PM'ed you already).

I've been working hard, and it has been a while since I've been on AW. I got pro-rec'd back in Oct 2010, but my conditional release for the Army and many other slow downs delayed me so much my pro-rec is gone. So I'm going up against yall, good luck to everyone! Hope there is a high selection rate. Just another random tid-bit, BDCP is officially on hold or whatever, and it was back in Oct 2010, but my recruiter put me in for it and I got it. I forgot what FY it was for, but definitely for a FY where BDCP was filled up, so there is a chance for BDCP everyone!

3.94 GPA in Criminal Justice
5 LORs (O-6, W-4, employer, teacher, uncle/high rank in DHS)

Accepted for Oct 2010

I have a advantage of being pro-rec'd before, but some of yall are gonna give a run for my money! Good luck to everyone once again, see you in Pensacola

marmoset, the deal with the dates I gave is that of the people who have received final select letters so far, they've been for July 2011 - January 2012 (and in the last month, a few for February/March 2012). Most, if not all, of these people were pro-rec'd in the Summer/Fall of 2010.

Since the Navy fills slots from beginning of the FY to the end, you can assume they have filled the first several classes already (technically this is incorrect, I'm aware, but I expect final select letters to be going out in bulk in the coming weeks, filling out those classes). By the time the August board is complete, all class dates through December and January will probably be nearly filled (with things like rolls and drops accounting for the extra empty slots). The August board will be filling for the end of FY12, and possibly the beginning of FY13. So that's where I get the approximate months they should be expecting to go.

As far as your situation, I have no clue. I'd imagine you will be in that group that gets a final select letter here shortly. But your date could potentially be anywhere between August 7 and March, or later.

I will say I looked over the FY12 budget passed by the House (and I posted about it on USNavyOCS), and it gives a bit more insight into the current situation. OCS candidates are being cut by almost 700 as compared to last year, and about 1,300 as compared to FY10 (1,123 FY12 candidates). That doesn't mean anything for those awaiting OCS dates, but for those posting in this thread awaiting boards it may be helpful (or depressing, knowing that slots have been cut by over 50% in just 2 years).

Considering people selected in October still havent left yet.. I'd assume it'd be somewhere late spring early summer, if not end of summer.

Maybe you're only referring to aviation-related boards. I am told that the IDC board scheduled for 22-Aug is on and that it will include review of SWO-IDC option packages.

Nice package man (note to self: dont say that in the locker room), good luck. How long after you were pro-rec did you have until it was 'gone'? I am under the impression it is 90 days?

Well, I'm having a serious issue regarding the upcoming August boards. Any and all advice would be MUCH appreciated --

My OR was insistent that my package be completed by JUNE 25th to be ready for the "upcoming" board. I met my OR's deadline, and I assumed my package would be reviewed at the August board, but my OR was unable to provide me with any specifics re: board dates. I could not understand why she insisted on such a June deadline, when the generally accepted deadline for the August board is ~July 25th.

Last week she contacted me saying that my package was returned, with a message saying that they were not currently considering applications for my designators (Intel/SWO/SWO-IW). My OR stated that they were only considering applications for Pilot at this time.

What does this mean? This information seems to conflict with everything I've read on AirWarriors and USNavyOCS. Was there a Pilot board set for July (this month), and my application was erroneously sent to that instead of the August boards? My OR is not aware of any August board.

I don't understand why my package would be returned so early, when I haven't seen anyone else come forward with a similar story on these forums or elsewhere. I'm also confused by the June deadline my OR gave me; I'm concerned there may have been some sort of mixup here, but I'm not exactly sure how.

THANK YOU in advance...
