Did they have to mail the wheels to Rota or something? How far did this get before someone noticed and did something? Huey shuts down on spot 2 right before sunset..."Let's get her off the spot!"

"Uh...yeah...about that..."

31st MEU. They shutdown all 7 skids (after we've asked twice if they have wheel kits), then the Huey crews stare at each other uncomfortably. Then the flower calls home and they spend a half hour deciding whether it is faster to send them with a Phrog or send a Huey back.

It gets the cruise off on the right foot.

----All my research failed, so i came to ask the experts -----
I was watching a video of an F/A-18 on the flight line getting ready for departure and i noticed the pilot carry a "GREEN BAG" into the cockpit, whats on that "GREEN BAG" ???
and where do you secure that green bag on the cockpit to where it does not interfere with flight controls on that small cockpit???
... serious question:confused:

Thanks.

Helmet bag, just standard issued one you get in API generally. There is a nice spot next to your right elbow, next to the seat, behind the thigh panel that it will fit nicely into. I just carry my charts/plates and anything else I might want to have in there.

From the GCCPG thread...

What would be the reason for the loadout on 2? I'm guessing training?
Yearly quota of CBUs + only 2 CBU ranges stateside (one in the R2507 near El Centro) – finite sorties flown on Det = dump ex

Also called an "Oscar Pattern." Not sure a) why they have different names and b) what happened to the S-2 pattern.

Do skids on a helo have a design reasoning vice wheels? Or just a simple solution kept from the original helos?

This one comes from another thread:

What is an S-3 pattern?

It's like a double rainbow. Beautiful to watch, but what does it mean? You'll be able to fall asleep while you do it after your 11TH BI sim in T45s. It's actually a half SRT with a reversal at the beginning of the second descent, though...just in case you're so bored that you jump into a sim and blow your mind trying it with a srt.
